  • Daily maintenance of transitioning hair

Hey. I'm new here. I've been transitioning for some time. I think I've gotten washing my hair really well. Now when it comes to daily maintenance of my hair, that is the problem. The first day is always okay but because I wash my hair once a week I have problems with daily maintenance. My hair is so dry and no matter how much moisturizer I put in it still is dry and brittle. I'm not sure what to do. I also don't know if I should comb my hair everyday. I still have a lot to learn so I came here for advice. I hope someone can help

Protein in your products can dry out your hair. In low dew points, glycerin and other humectants can dry out your hair. There is a great app for hair that will base the products you use on the dew points in the area you live called 'curl power'. Great ingredients for your hair include: coconut & olive oil soaks on dry hair. Both are penetrating oils that will allow moisture into the hair. Also having a humidifier in your room is good for your hair. Deep conditioning on a regular basis will allow moisture into the hair & close the hair cuticle. Make sure to use indirect heat such as a hooded/bonnet dryer or a steamer. Hope this helps.
