  • Question about marley/havanna twists

I started going natural 5 years ago and wore weave during the whole transition process. About a year and a half later I ran a kiddie perm through my hair so it was easier to manage then I stopped added perm unless it was hair that was left out when I wore weave (mainly my edges). The last time I permed edges was January. Most of the perm has grown out its just the ends of the hair that is still straight. I had the tiny senegalese twists installed from late May to the beginning of August.
(here's a picture so you know what size I was talking bout: http://iloveboxbraids.tumblr.com/post/56540366024/nic-nac-patty-wack-tumblr-com?utm_medium=email&utm_source=html&utm_campaign= submission_published&utm_term=respond_link )

There was a little bit of breakage around my edges, but nothing too extreme.

I've been wearing my hair out natural without any extensions so I can finally take proper care of my hair, explore my hair texture, and try out different styles. I've been using castor oil, aloe vera, shea butter, a daily moisturizing creme by Jamaican Mango & Lime designed for transitioning hair, and an extremely watered down keratin leave in conditioner (basically I just used the empty spray bottle and filled it up with water and there's still residue of the conditioner left) to take care of my hair.

I go back to school in a week and a half and I was thinking about getting marley or havanna (idk which one I want they both look so similiar) twists installed. Instead of the tiny twists like the one I had before. I wanted to get them thicker (like the size Solange wore when she had them in)
Will that relieve some tension on my edges and help it grow? Approximately how long do they last since they are thicker twists? How often should I moisturize my scalp and what products should I use to on it? Since Marley/Havanna hair is a different texture than kankelon does it get messed up from swimming and/or washing it? I run track in college and sometimes we do pool workouts.

Sorry this is a lot, but thank you for taking the time to read this!

    Stay blessed

My advise ONLY GET 100% HUMAN HAIR!! synthetic WILL DRY AND BREAK YOUR HAIR OFF AND THEY ARE MUCH HEAVIER!! Right now i'm wearing JANET COLLECTION HUMAN 57 A PACK. To some this may be expensive but i rather pay for something the helps my hair rather then take it down in a month or two and find breakage split ends!!!

Wash you hair when necessary! I know folks say wash your hair weekly but it's REALLY ABOUT WHEN YOUR HAIR NEEDS! Mine can go 3 weeks without washing. Oil the hair shaft or do whatever helps your hair NOT BE 100% DRY
