  • Protective Style Challenge 2014

    Begins- January 1st, 2014

    Ends- July 1st, 2014

Goal- healthy hair & length retention

    Action Plan:
    Rules:

    •Eat balanced meals:
    Breakfast
    Lunch
    Dinner
Snacks in between that promo healthy hair growth.
    Walnuts, carrots, spinach etc.

    ***• Increase your water intake
Drink 40-64oz of Water a day

I own a 32oz Nalgene bottle, they are super helpful when it comes to reminding you to drink. I bought mine from Target last summer.

***• Take vitamins of some sort:

I take nutrilite hair, skin, nails complex. Try n take them every day at the same time, I take mine after breakfast.
I order mine off of Amazon.
I will also post a pic of it.

    Other pill options are:
    Biotin and hairfinity,

    • If you're one to wash or cowash your hair every week I suggest you cut that down to washing it every 2-3 weeks...
If it gets flakey or itchy use some tea tree oil, or do a vinegar rinse... Or find some remedy on YouTube

    • Try and stay away from detangling tools as much as possible. Replace those tools with fingers to Finger detangle .
If you must use a tool, u can use a wide tooth comb, or something like a Denman brush, or a tangle teezer less than once a week... Stay away from the thin tooth combs and bristle brushes. ( be careful on how much tension you place on your edges)

***• moisturize your hair/scalp atleast every 2 days. I use the LOC method.

•massage your scalp as often as you can.

    ***•PROTECTIVE STYLE !

Hide those end for atleast 5 out of 7 days of the week...

Buns, two strand twist, weave, box braids, cornrows, Senegalese, updo's... If your ends are hidden, you name it ! You can do it !

You can fro it out for 2 days ! Out the week !

•try n stay away from the shears during this challenge. If you feel that you need a good trim or a dusting, I encourage you to Trimm or dust before starting.

    ***•MEASUREMENTS:
    Post pics every 2 months
    January-
    front
    Side
    Back
    Middle

    MARCH

    MAY

    JULY

If you have hands in the hair syndrome!

Find something else to do with you hands !!
Sew, draw, read a book, scrap book.

If these are way too many rules for you to follow atleast do the 5 with the asterisk in front of them.

I've seen hair growth with 6 out of 10 of these rules and I'm just hoping to increase my length by adding on protective styles to this !

If you're going to join this challenge just say " I'm in!" And tell me a lil bit about your hair... Does it have a name? What's its curls pattern? What oils does it like??
Let's get this thread going ladies !

Don't forget to deep conditioner your hair during those wash days. I DC mine, about once a month... I' might do it before I place any extensions in my hair like weave or boxbraids.

                I'm in.
The front of my hair is currently 1.5in, middle 1.75in., back 1.5in. and sides, 1in (due to tapering my hair).
                My curls are 4a-c.
My hair likes coconut and grapeseed oils.
I will be taking Biotin, MSM and Horsetail pills.
I hoping that by late January, I will be able to install kinky twists.

Thank you All for Joining Me !!

                          I am sooo excited !

Do any of you plan on using heat at all during this challenge ?

I don't plan on it, but if I do blow dry my hair I'll let you guys know! But most likely I'll use other methods to stretch my hair, like banding.

I would also love for you guys to show off your protective styles!

Sometimes I lack creativity and motivation, but with you guys here I know I'll get my creative juices glowing & my energy will be sky high

                          ☺️Attachment

Here she goes again, after a good wash & DC!
Btw I have color in my hair in case any of you were wondering. I will be letting it grow out. I'm not going to touch up my roots.

Have a Blessed day all !
