Jamaican black castor oil helps your hair grow so much! Also Shea butter keeps your hair so moisturized. Go on YouTube and look up the kind of hair texture that you have! It really does help to know. I would advise you to let your hair grow out for a year and cut the ends every few months. That way you get to know your hair a lot better as it grows. If you just cut off all your hair it will be a little harder to to get to know your hair.
~ I hope I helped (be a strong natural do nt give up) it gets easier i promise.!

I just started a thread with questions. So, here you go.

Quote:
I have decided to go natural. I have been reading, researching and watching as any videos on You Tube as I possibly can to learn as much as I can. My last perm was December 2012 and I will not be signing up for another one. I am still very confused and I don't know what to do when the time comes for me to transition. I have decided not to do the Big Chop. I will be trimming out the relaxed her as I go. My style of choice that I have chosen will be the 2 strand twists. My question is, when my hair shows the new growth, do I then go to a natural hair beautician and let her do the 2 strand twists and begin the transition stage.

What do I do? I'm getting nervous and I want to start the transition right. Can anyone explain to me what I have to do or direct me to a link or any other resource on the internet?

What do I look for when I am choosing a beautician to help me with my transition?

I appreciate any and all help.
Thanks

Thanks
I'm so glad you are transitioning . Here are some tips.
- do your research!
You don't wanna go natural and not know what you are doing.

In your transitioning process let YouTube be your best friend. There are people that can show you some really cute hairstyles during your transition.

Moisturize moisturize moisturize! It's simply good for your hair. It also prevents breakage and shedding.

Lastly, have confidence. Because if going natural is not a choice you made for yourself you are never going to like your hair and your more likely to get a perm or be natural and have lots of heat damage! Ignore the rude people that make comments because they are just ignorant. Most of all enjoy your natural journey and be a strong natural.

Hope a helped!!

When it comes to someone doing your hair they will try to convince you get a perm. So be strong about that. There are hair stylist that do natural hair! You just have to find them.

Ok so here is the deal. You can have more then one hair texture.the back of your hair may be 4a or 4b in the back. the front may be 3a. But what yo can do to blend the hair is this... Braid the hair before you put it in the rods. If you don't know you hair texture go on YouTube they have so many videos on hair texture to show you. The more you know about your hair texture the easier it will be to handle your hair. One you know what your hair texture is you can look up other YouTubers that have the same hairstyles and you can recommend products and hair styles to you. And ways to protect your hair. Don't use a lot of heat during your transition because that can mess up your curl pattern! And what works for someone else may not work for you, so if a product is not working for your hair don't use it.

Hope this helped

Condition your hair!! And buy oils such as castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil etc. Don't use anything cotton when you wear scarfs and bandanas it dries out your hair s bad. Set your hair at night. Every might!! It prevents breakage and keeps your hair moisturized. Co-wash instead of washing your hair with shampoo.shampoo dries out your hair so co-wash! Like I said before find out your hair texture on YouTube It really does help to know! When you know your hair texture, you can look up other YouTubers that have the same hair texture. It also makes it easier to do research on your hair if know what hair texture your looking for!! if a product does not work do not use it. It will just dry your hair out.

If you have anymore question please feel free to ask I'm here learn and help!
Hope I helped!
