I retwist a few times a week. I usually do 4 or 5 chunky plaits. My hair is long enough to pineapple, so I do that on alternate nights.

No. As long as you're handling your hair with care. And you don't have to retwist every night if you don't want to. I usually pineapple or wear a low pony at night. Release in the am. When it gets frizzy, or loses some definition, then I retwist.

For me it starts with the product I use. As I Am twisting cream gives me the longest hold and I don't have to retwist every night. On the nights I don't retwist I wear a satin bonnet. The next day I put a dime size drop of oil and my hands and run my hands over the top of my head and it pops up.
