Default I'm a newbie

Hi Kimkay,
I'm new to the natural journey about 4 weeks now. My 7 year old daughter hair is natural and I don't plan to put a relaxer in it. That is what actually made me decide to go natural. I actually had planned not to do the Big Chop. My last relaxer was the end of July. I purchased a wig due to hair was cut in short style and back of hair tapered so I couldn't do the ponytail, braids, etc. I did wear my wigs for 3 months. I did however planned to just gradually cut my perm out of my hair but it actually took me 4 haircuts until it was OFF!. My routine is similar to relaxed routine with the addition to wetting hair daily, pre-poo and more co-washing. I do put a hot oil treatment or deep conditioner my hair weekly instead of bi-weekly. I prefer the conditioning caps from Sally's, they use your natural heat. But if you don't mind sitting under the dryer the other plastic caps are fine. Once you find the right products for your hair that will be another Great Addition. I did purchase the As I Am Co-wash from Sally. Moisture is a key also. I have fine hair so thick or heavy products don't work for me. Once you find out your texture (kinky, curly, wavy or straight) and type (fine, medium or thick) that will be another Key Item. You will be able to fine products for your hair easily. Congratulations on your new journey. Lots of research is the key. This website is a blessing, other natural ladies you know or just meet, a natural stylist or stylist that has a lot of knowledge about hair and products. One thing I didn't do it buy the entire line of every product. If I found a product I tried to stay with it. The entire line of products may not all work for your hair. There will be items that all the products work for your hair. Give yourself time to adjust and don't get frustrated with finding products. I try to view it this way when I had a relaxer every haircut, hair style or product didn't work for me and it's the same with natural hair, every hair style or hair product may not work for me. But I'm beautiful inside and out and I'm flexible. Please let me know how things turn out for you and again Congratulations you will be inspiration for the next person. If you have waited several months before cutting your hair then you are starting with some length if not it will grow faster than you think.

I am a little new, i'm learning what's good for my two different textures already. I am only 14 weeks post and I already see my curly hairs. They aren't really tight yet, but you never know your type of hair until you at least get 2 inches of new growth. My new growth is at least or almost an inch already!
