I was diagnosed with a skin condition that caused my hair to fall out in 2005. It was slow at first so I continued to relax my hair and wear weaves etc. The hair loss is in the center of my scalp so I can wear it up and on one will be able to tell. In the last 4 years or so, my hair loss has increased tremendously. I can't even wear my hair down now with out having to put in clip in pieces. I was tired of losing hair and figured maybe going natural will help. I'm entering month 3 post relaxer so I'm new to this. I didn't know going natural was so popular until I started researching about it.
So...yeah...lengthy... but, that's my story (^_^) |

@Ravenpriestess
I have Lichen Planus Pilarus. My scalp is really tender in the area where the hair has fallen out. It's really weird because on the right side, it's thick and shoulder length. But the left side, is really short and thin. It looks like I have two different scalps on my head. But, I'm believing for God to heal my scalp. I think eliminating harmful habits like relaxing will help me a lot. |

I wanted dreads in 2008 so I cut my hair off and started them, but cut them off in 2010 because I missed braiding my hair. Still natural. Never liked perms but I was forced by my mom until I was 15. I'm 19 now and I LOVE my natural hair

With my condition I have to rotate products in order for them to not become ineffective.I learned this from my dermatologist because he said after a while the shampoo would stop working if I continued to use it without altering my routine. I plan to try other shampoo bars.Sent from my PG06100 using CurlyNikki App

I have never liked getting my hair done. I've found great stylist who don't waste my time but I have always hated the process.
![]() I was thinking about how I used to always ask my mom (and I don't blame that generation at all) as a child why we were making my hair look like white people. Her answer never changed; she told me that they were making their hair like ours with curly perms. That answer did not address the question. So everytime I would go through the routine that I hate, if you'll recall , I was wondering why as an adult I was doing it for no good reason. And I wondered what I would tell my mythical daughter in the future should she ask. Finally called it quits. Because I don't like it for me. As simple as that. |

The first time I went natural I was in college. I was just experimenting with my hair and natural was something I never done myself. Soooo I went for it...this was in 2004. Rocked the low cut for a few years and by the time I moved home in 2008 I had a nice size afro. Now it's job hunting time. I let my parents convince me that having natural hair wasn't professional so I relaxed again. Although I loved my short relaxed cut every time I saw a woman with natural hair I got jealous and wish I never relaxed it. So here I am, in 2012 starting over. This time no one will change my mind. I will be natural for the rest of my life...

My long,beautiful hair was looking very limp and thin. I decided to go natural and I will force myself to deal with natural hair because I am not going back. I did my own relaxers and trims so I am comfortable with handling my hair. I feel liberated and know that natural hair will give me more flexxibility in styles and I will finally have healthy, voluminous hair.

I didn't want to waste $50 - $70 on getting my hair done only to sweat it out at the gym. I spent more time with my hair slicked back after a workout then in the cute style I paid for. Now I am free to concentrate on my health without sacrificing my natural hair cut which is even nicer!
