My moms friend asked me could she get her girls tablets or iPads to use for school she has twin girls this is their first yr in college I told her I think a laptop would be better. I have both an iPad and laptop I use my laptop for writing my papers but I not sure about the iPad or a tablet doing the same so I figured I'd pose the questions to you computer savvy ladies TIA!!!

I have both iPad & Laptop. I love my iPad for everyday toting around campus & being able to access PowerPoints & online systems with ease. I wouldn't just get one or the other but I definitely love my iPad at school & laptop at home to write papers.

I would suggest getting them laptops. These are easier to type their papers on and research. With a tablet or IPad its more expensive and their hands will hurt especially when they have written assignments. I had to do tons of 20 page or more assignments and I had no problem getting them done on my laptop. A netbook is a good idea, its small and easy to carry around. I would recommend the HP or Sony brand.

Laptop is a must. I borrow my mothers iPad to take to school but there are so many things and websites I can't access without a laptop due to iPads not being able to use adobe
