Default Not a TWA but not quite a BAF

So I don't have a TWA but I'm not at a BAF yet (unless I blow it out, but I'd rather not use the heat)...

Give me some Ideas to do with my hair.. I'm tired of the simple twist in the front or the twist outs or headbands....

So I'd love to see pictures or if you know of any good video tutorials that's cool too...

Welcome to the awkward stage! Lol. I'm still in mine, too. I pretty much stopped doing TOs because they started coming out weird. I stick to keeping my hair in two strand twists (and there are lots of videos on YT that show different ways to style them; SimplYounique and iknowlee have great ones) or wash 'n' gos (WnGs).

Other curlies like to keep their hair protected during this stage to reduce frustration, so they do weaves, wigs, braids, twists, etc. for 6-12 months, so you could also try that if you ever feel like you're getting into a rut with styling or are getting really annoyed with your hair.

Good YTers to check out for styles are:

Naptural85
iknowlee
SimplYounique
LongHairDon'tCareLLC
FusionofCultures
waterlily716 (she has a few cute half up styles that could work for awkward length hair if slightly modified)

And here's a couple pics of my hair...

1. A flat twist style that I did during my transition (and still do); LongHairDon'tCareLLC has a tutorial on this.
2. My normal twists in a bun :-)
3. Freshly washed hair (I styled this into a WnG after I took this shot, I believe)

Don't do the weaves...I chopped all my hair off a year and a half ago. Once I got enough to braid I weaved it up. I stayed weaved up for almost a year. I damaged my hair by not being being able to condition it and care for it the way it needs to be cared for. When I took the hair out I pretty much had to do he big chop all over again. This may work for some so instead of me saying don't do the weave maybe I should say be cautious about it. Natural hair needs tender loving care and that can't happen when it's braided down too your scalp for a month or more.

If you do weaves or wigs, be sure to care for the hair underneath.

I'm so glad that I'm not alone. I was defnitely getting frustrated with this awkward stage. It's past the cute TWA stage, but definitely not a BAF. I did some comb twist today and I'm pretty satisfied. I think this will be my "go to style" for the next two months or so. Then it's some kind of extensions
