I do two strand twist using shea butter and usually bobby pin the ends down to my scalp and put a silk bonnet on.

Since I use a heavy cream leave-in and spritz it through out the day, I just throw my satin bonet on and call it a night. If I was rocking a 2strand twist that I want to preserve, I may twist it b4 bed...I'm a no fuss person when it comes to my hair. I feel if you moisturize it enough during the day, and you moisturize when you wake up to revive it, moisturing at night could be over kill. Over moisturized hair causes more ssk for me, so I take it easy.

Have you ever had any bad experiences with your avj? I had a oil/water/avj spritz I was using to refresh every morning, and one day it started to smell funny (kinda like a breakfast sandwich) and it had weird tendrils of....stuff in it. I threw it out immediately, haha. I hate to waste things, and I'm nervous to try avj again (even though I hear such good things about it) for fear that I'll just have to throw it away again. Am I doing something wrong?

When my hair is loose, I mist with water/oil/avj mix, add a light moisturizer, and seal ends with a light oil (now in love with grapeseed oil). I retwist in large twists.

I made up a mix of water, olive oil, coconut oil and aussie moist conditioner. I shake it up and spray it on my hair at night before putting it in about 6-8 twists and then wrap with a satin cap.

The next day my hair is nice and soft and it stays that way all day. I also think the conditioner keeps me from getting those evil ssk's.

It's perishable so make it in small batches and refill weekly. Rinse the bottle too.

Put it in the fridge if you want it to last for about a week as well.

@amr0125, I haven't had a bad experience, or at least I have yet to. I only mix the avj with water though, nothing else. I borrowed the recipe from naptural85 on youtube. I was noticing breakage when cowashing my hair and really saw a huge reduction within a week or two. I cover at night with a satin bonnet. Sometimes I use it in the a.m. but not always. Mostly at night. Also, I do not put it in the frdge or anything after it's been mixed with water, but will start if I notice it's rancid...haven't noticed it yet though!...:-)

I find water, castor oil n aloe Vera gel in a spritz bottle works well. Also, a good silk scarf does wonders in keeping moisture.
