I can't get my curls to define in my WnG. My hair looks frizzy and blah when I finish. My hair is thick and I feel like I may need a thicker, creamier product to make my curls set as they dry. My Eco gel isn't working for me any suggestions?

Are you using anything under the Eco? How do you apply the products?

I co-wash with Suave. Then I apply my Giovanni direct leave in. And I seal with an oil. Would the problem be that maybe I let it dry a little before hand? I always spray my hair with water if I have to do something and it dries.

It's less time consuming compared to my braidouts..and I have a great method that can stretch my WNGs to the max throughout the week, which prevents tangles for me. Just last week I able to get a WNG that I wore 100% out for 6 days + 2 days in a ponytail. The only thing that sucks is product build-up in my opinion..but less maintenance and less time consuming is one hell of a great deal over that.
Do you mean APL stretched, or APL in its' natural state? Just wondering because my hair is about that length stretched. I would really love to do WnGs as my main style, but I just haven't gotten used to the styling just yet. I'm also trying to figure out whether or not to use gel. (the pic I posted has no gel and products I wasn't crazy about...meh).

I'm having such a hard time getting it to all try within a reasonable amount of time. I have been sitting under a hooded dryer for an hour and it still won't be close to dry other than the very top of my head.

^^Ohh, I mean APL stretched. I love the volume in your hair, and that's kinda exactly how mines looks too without gel or product in general (texture wise). I find that gel gives me more definition and locks in my curl pattern better with a stronger hold. Gel also helps me out with clumping. And I feel you on the taking forever to drying thing too. I either do my WNGS before going to bed, so it will be dry when I wake up OR will use the tension method with my blow dryer (this option also gives me a good bit of volume). Both methods also help me with stretching the coils out too. I do the first option more than the second though. And thanks for input too btw, and I hope that you find a way that works for you. It took me months to come up with an efficient way to define my texture :/.

At is longest in the back my hair is almost APL and I have 3c, 4a, and 2c in the front. WNG's are the easiest and less time consuming for me to do and depending on the gel I use, it will last 7-8 days. I generally use Wetline Extreme Gel for an all week hold. I also wash my hair, usually on Sundays, late afternoon early evening and put it up in a high ponytail at night. In the morning, its still a little wet but dry by the time I get to work.

Wngs were my go-to style for a while. I'm a tiny bit past bsl stretched. You're right, it's so simple which is one of the reasons I stuck with it. I never really have a build-up issue unless I go nuts with product application but wngs take like 5 minutes. As of late though I've been doing twists to practice twist outs.

Everyone's WNG's are beautiful. I can't wait until my hair gets long enough for one. ☺

Cool! You sound kinda like me. Wetline Extreme Gel is heaven sent! I do the same too..as in washing in the evening then letting it air dry over night. I was just curious if their were some WNG naturals out there who wear them like very often. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's funny in my case because braid outs have always been my go to style during my 22 month transition along with the 7 months that I've been natural. I guess I need to stop being so heavy handed with the products, when it comes to the build-up part lol. But, braidouts are cool too since I can go 4+ days without re-braiding at least..but the process during wash day is what I'm trying to work on. I can relate to the needing to work on my twist outs too lol.

That could be the problem. I add my leave in to soaking wet hair, section it, and then smooth my gel on small sections. Adding the leave in to wet hair works best for me. Try it - it can't hurt.

Oh, and I add oil and avj to my leave in.
