I am planning to start this method in August & was wondering could I do an ACV rinse to clarify my hair from all the cones instead of using a sulfate shampoo for the last time? My hair gets super stiff if I use any amount of shampoo with sulfates, even when diluted.

The book says to use a sulfate shampoo for your last shampoo in order to remove the build-up. Try doing a deep conditioner after you wash that should help soften your hair.

Thanks, any suggestions on a cg friendly DC? I was using my flawless curls with oils added before and I know that's a no go.

Ladies the CG method is fine, but I recommend to shampoo periodically with a sulfate free shampoo or a cleansing cream. For me my scalp needs a real cleaning about once per week. And my hair thanks me for it! I do co- wash between shampoos, but I definitely do not rely on it. Think about it: do you was your body with lotion?

I agree, I have found that even on the CG method I have to shampoo at least once a month with a non-sulfate shampoo. My hair seems to respond better when I shampoo it once a month. Sometime I will use a cleansing cream like the one by Curl Junkie. I do co-wash once a week and do a DT once a week. And even though I am staying away from the bad stuff I still tend to get build-up. But everyone has to find what works best for them....

I've been CG for a few years now (about 3) and I only really shampoo as needed.. sometimes it will be a few times in a week, and other times I can go months between shampoos. The last time I shampooed was.. man, I can't remember so it must be at least a month or so since.

I think the CG method is fine as long as you're using silicone free products or at least water soluble silicones. If there's no silicones, there should be no build up IMO.
