After committing to a disciplined hair care regimen for 5 months, I took a step back, it seems, after I straightened my hair yesterday. 😔 That wasn't a good idea lol. I'm a little past the TWA and trickling my way towards that awkward stage- which is no excuse to straighten my hair- but I instantly became "curious" when my sister came back from my moms house with a blow dryer and some hot combs. I swear it took me about half a second to fight the urge... But it was too late lol. Wasn't even worth it! Although I was pleased, at the very least, of how little time it took to straighten but I was a frizzy mess when my hair reverted, oh about, 2 hours after i did it! 😒
I did a wash n go today and my hair is stringy and struggling to pick up my natural curl pattern. I am not pleased. So I guess this is a lesson learned. You will not deceive me again, flat iron, and this is the last time (in my trey songz voice). -Lilly 🌸 |

I think I needed to hear that, lol. I've been itching to straighten my hair, but I've been holding my own. I'll wait until I hit APL.

I don't want anyone to feel heat is the devil.Lol..But, if you're transitioning your hair is more fragile and prone to breakage because of the two textures. Try to do styles that will fit your personality and stretch without heat.
Don't beat yourself up too much.Remember, a setback is a set up for a comeback. You'll grow your hair and then, if you want to try heat again you'll be able to enjoy.I have straightened a few times and have a technique down that works for me without heat damage. It's not the heat that damages moreso then the fact that not using adequate heat protectant and controlling the heat setting is more damaging. Sent from my PG06100 using CurlyNikki App

OMG, I just went through the same thing. I blow dried my and flat ironed my hair on Thursday and it looked so crazy, that I flatiorned it again Friday. I finally got it looking good and was really feeling myself until I went to an Italian food festival and the steam from the grills caused my hair to revert. I have been trying for the last three days to get my curls to pop again. I deep conditioned under the dryer, I baggied overnight. It's frizzy and straight in spots, but gradually improving. I too will not touch the flatiron anytime soon.

I did the same thing today. Straightened my hair, HATED IT and washed it out for a wash and go. I'm ready to be done with this awkward stage

Try a deep condition or protein treatment. May take awhile to revive but should work

I have been flatironing my hair every two weeks for just about 5 months without any heat damage. It all depends on the products you use, preferably the ones that leave your hair with slim chances to becoming damaged. What products did use? But just as the other ladies said, you must keep DC and regularly styling to get your curl back. I hope this helps.
