Default Mini twists on 5 inches of hair

I have 4.5-5 inches of hair. I want to do mini twists but I have questions.

What products do you use to do these?
Do you do them on wet or dry hair?
How long do they lasts?
Do you style them?
How long does it take you to do put them in?
How do you maintain them?
How do you keep them from curling up?

I really appreciate any advice you have, even if your hair is longer.

The options are endless. My hair is coarse and I twist with heavy butters on wet hair. Product choice can make or break your twists, but it is a trial and error process.

My hair is the same length and I'm about to put in mini twists in for the first time though. I'm using a soft/medium hold gel and a light butter for hold and to keep them frizz free.
And I banded my hair and let it dry over night because my shrinkage is insane on wet hair. I'm going to put them on medium sized rollers to keep them stretched as I go.

Have about 11months of hair growth. Did my first minis on monday! Took SIX hours...but feel it was worth it😊 My hair was damp and moisturised (leave-in, evoo+castor oil mix & whipped shea butter). Don't mind them curling up! Been spritzing with leave-in then following up with either shea butter or evoo-castor mix. Pretty happy so far

Practice, practice and more practice!

I twist on dry or wet hair.

For both methods, I use Pantene Curly rinse out for moisture and seal with Cantu Super Shine and Silk.

I maintain them at night by doing 5 or 6 huge twists with no product.

It took me about 6 months to "get it." Each time, they were so bad, I said never again. But then I would see a pic of some curly's hair and that would motivate me to try again.

They may not turn out how you want them too. Make sure you ask us a lot of questions and try different methods and products until you get it the way you want.

I think maybe 7-8 inches. Here's a pic I took last week. It's a twist out with a LOT of product build up.

Thanks. Mine is not quite as long as yours. I was wondering about the feasibility of putting mine in large twists to maintain at night. I don't think I'm quite there yet.

P. S. Not that I'm really one to talk but you need to update your profile pic!
