So my questions are: Having a TWA/ natural hair what has been your experience with acceptance or lack from males? Also do you think your twa/ natural hair attracts a certain kind of male ? Either way I'm stick to natural but just curious what to expect.

Thanks ladies for your help in advance!!!!
Like Raven stated earlier, I didn't get much positive attention from any guys after I cut my hair. I thought I looked good then, but I recently saw some pictures, and I looked boyish. I didn't like that look on me. My face is roundish and chubby, so more hair makes it look better methinks.

Now that my hair is longer, I do get more positive attention from non-black guys. Even if my hair is in a wild TO, 20 something 2 strand twists, or defined and super curly, I usually get a couple stares and winks wherever I go now. The last 2 guys that were "interested" in me (borderline dating, but not quite there) always looked at my hair longingly, but never asked to touch it. Maybe they were afraid it'd fall out lol.
It seems weird, but I've received significantly less attention from black and African/Carribbean men since going natural. They pretty much ignore me, so I just shrug it off and flirt with the guys who do pay attention to me (usually Asian, for some reason).

I'm scared of getting the same reaction from mine! We haven't talked about it and I'm BCing next weekend - I'm not planning to bring it up at all! We've been dating for 4 years and I was on cream crack the entire time. I had to chop my hair off once bc it was so damaged but I kept it "done". He grew into that short style but was even more excited when my hair started to grow. We've never really had the natural vs relaxed talked bc I didn't think it was ever an option. Ugh...that's the one thing I'm the most nervous about!

I've been fully natural for about 2 months (bc: June 17, 2012), but have only worn my hair out twice because I'm scary (got yarn braids 3 days after bc, after using weave to transition.) I transitioned for 9.5 months. When I bc'd my bf of 2.5 years never wanted me to cut my hair (even when I was relaxed), but encouraged me to do it anyways.

Wore a puff for the 1st time last week and he loved it! He also prefers my natural hair over my permed/weaved up hair.

I can't speak on outside male attention because I don't go out much.

Really? I didn't know that. Are the soft, dark curls part of the mystery? Or is it the paradox of having thick, fine hair? It's funny that you mention that; the only guys that have seriously shown interest in me have been Asian (well, one was eastern European, but it could be argued that his country is Asian). Maybe I'll be having Blasian babies one day

Blasian! Do it!! I'm not sure what the main attraction is. Perhaps it IS because we do in fact have the most unique hair on earth. Or maybe how versatile it is.. I'm not 100% but I have certainly read in various places that asians love black hair. It's part of the reason my sister went natural. She wanted to test this theory because she loves Asians 😁

[QUOTE=iChooseMe;507191]Oddly, one of my reasons for going natural was to be able to weed out the losers lol not to say that guys that like natural hair are all saints, but if a guy can accept or appreciate my hair in its natural state, then that's definitely a plus [/QUO

That was a good idea !!

I am so grateful for all the responses !!! Being natural has proven to def be a challenge, who knew that hair could have such an impression on people !! At the same time, I am so proud to be part of a community of a beautiful women who have such confidence given the numerous diverse reactions we have received from others. Thanks so much all !!!

That is too funny! If I get asked out by an Asian guy this semester, I'll have to ask him what he thinks about my hair and report back to you. This will be fascinating...

Actually, one of my close friends made this book for me for my 16th birthday, and it's her idea of what the rest of my life will be. One of the things she put in it is that I would move to China to study and fall in love with a ninja. She was joking of course, but after she gave me that book (and after I went natural), the Asian men started flocking. It was bizarre. I told her that she was a prophetess! Lol.

Lol, did she really? That sounds like something I would do, too. I love doing little social experiments. Once I wanted to see how people would react if they thought I was Muslim. So I took one of my scarves (a blue pashmina from the Middle East), wrapped it around my head like a hijaab, and walked to class. Nobody would come within 20 feet of me! And campus was crowded that day, too. I looked around, and people were staring (angrily, usually), looking uncomfortable, etc. It was eye opening. It was like walking a mile in someone else's shoes.
