Angry What is wrong with parent's!

So my daughter is 2, and I am amazed by some of these mothers and what they do to their children's hair at a young age. Okay, the first episode my daugher's classmate (she is 2 as well), her mother puts weave such as sew-ins and kinky twists in her hair. Now mind you, she barely has hair and the teachers hand her the braids daily due to them falling out. Her mother stated she wants it to grow and doesn't know any other way. The second episode was today, another one of my daughter's classmates had a relaxer in her hair!! My heart dropped because me and that child's mother were just speaking about us being newly natural and how our process is going; and she goes and put a relaxer in her daughter's hair because it was so short. I was in disbelief because how can you be so "pro-natural", and put a relaxer in her hair. With in due time, I'm sure it would grow. Many kids are bald at times and when they get a little older, their hair begins to grow. I just don't understand the logic of parent's damaging hair of a 2 year old! What are you alls thoughts?

These parents are ruining their kids follicles b4 they have a good start. It's s shame that ppl have daughters and the first thing they wanna do is put in weave and relaxers in.

thats craziness! the poor child might have issues with her hair when she gets older since the dang mother is retarding her scalp at a VERY young age. when i was a toddler i was bald and then all of a sudden POOF by age 6 i had hair down the middle of my back . some parents need to just leave the kids be and let nature take its course. whos to say her child wouldve had a hair growth spurt and now that might not happen w/ the interference of the chemicals...such a shame.

nikkinuka its usually the babies who start off bald or no hair that eventually years later have a head full of hair like you said that happened to you at the age of 6.

thats so true and sometimes it the other way around. my daughter had a head full of hair. ill attach a pic. then by her 1 year all her hair fell out then it started grew back and NOW its like how i was at age 6....parents need to chill out with these kids and their heads. especially when you have a girl you want them to have all this hair but the old saying -patience is a viture was not said for nothing :-/

I absolutely hate when parents do such grown up things to kids hair. If a mother brings a child to the salon wanting a relaxer under the age of 12 I refuse them, because their are other options. I know my mom would keep my hair braided or in pony tails as a child!

Dang.. that's so sad! I can't understand it either. How hard can it be to style a 2 yr old's hair? And if it's THAT difficult, just cut it short, throw on a headband or bow, and call it a day. But a relaxer or sew in weave? That's just pure insanity.
