I have 3 lil ones all had cap, my sons oozed to the point I had to put wet oatmeal on his head to get to his scalp. Oatmeal will add moisture. After I soaked it in oatmeal wipe it off gently with a wash cloth and put some neosporin and hydrocordizone everyday and it will heal. My 2 nd baby was a girl and for her it was not as bad I used head and shoulders every other day and it cleared up. Now for this babies he has it too and I just Co wash his hair with mint conditioner and while it is still in his hair I take a small toothed comb and comb his hair in every direction and I don't scratch hard just enough to scrape anything that will budge loose after that I massage white Shea butter into his scalp with this I am seeing great progress instantly.

Have you tried the Shea Moisture Baby products. You can find them at Target stores and Walgreens.com. Not sure if the actual Walgreens store has them but I've seen them in the baby section at Target. Other than that, rubbing some extra virgin olive oil and gently brushing before using ... The name escapes me. I'm gonna find the name of the shampoo I used for my son and reply again

Also be sure to check with your pediatrician to ensure that it's only cradle cap--eczema could also be present and formula changes could be warranted. My pedi also recommended mineral oil @ first which didn't help (it did for a minute but it got worse) and then shampoos like Selsum Blue which your baby may be too young for so maybe there's a formula that the pharmacy could make if all else fails. See Dr. Sear's website as well.

Sebulex was the name of the shampoo. My pediatrician told me to use that. I got it from Walgreens where all the other shampoos were. Or worked the first time we used it. HTH

We use Eucerin as well but I also use Coconut oil and I'm starting to use Shea and will use it when I get some that isn't scented, etc--again check with your pediatrician as Shea is from nuts (I think) and foods are supposed to be introduced slowly. The Mustela that I spoke of helps also and I remember being told to use Crisco and thinking that was crazy (now that I'm natural, I understand why--it's a base for a lot of butters, etc). Let me rephrase, we used Mustela to wash (the body/shampoo/wash) and then there's a lotion that we used. I will get you the links---it is expensive and I remember seeing safflower oil in it and other oils so I'm betting that a good blend of Crisco and a Coconut oil would work even minus the coconut. I will also say a prayer for both of you. I felt so helpless and I still do when my daughter starts to flare. She does have a prescription now but I prefer and her doctor even prefers that we not use it because it breaks down the skin. Be sure that you are washing her clothes and bedding in a clear detergent like All Free and Clear. I stopped using Dreft in favor of that (I don't know if it made a difference but I felt like I was doing something and also Dreft wasn't something that I tolerated the scent of well). Ask Anointed (I think she's an herbalist) if she knows of any good remedies for a tot.

This is a link to the lotion on Amazon but I purchased from Babies R Us (you can check around on prices---I know that it wasn't sold @ Target or Wal-Mart in my area 2 years ago or in the last year). So the lotion is Stelatopia.
The wash is actually a cream cleanser with the same name (Mustela has a lot of products and here's the link to that: http://www.amazon.com/Mustela-Stelat...s=mustela+wash Good news--Target does carry it online so maybe they carry it in the stores now or in some stores!! Here's the link to the 1st product that's the lotion: http://www.target.com/p/mustela-stel...z/-/A-13236365 Also Mustela is showing a Cradle Cap product (we didn't use that or see that at the time but I did love their products).

I struggled with this for a year with my son who is 7. The pediatrician just recommended the t-sal shampoo from neutrogena and told me to keep it moisturized. I tried everything from herbal remedies to all kinds of oils to scrubbing. What you have to realize is that it itches so bad and the sores come from her scratching. I got the sores to heal with neosporin and tea tree oil. and simultaneously cleaned the scalp with rubbing alcohol every night. After cleaning layered hydrocortizone cream on his scalp and put a scarf on it. The scaly patches were gone in 2 days. No lie. I almost cried. All this time and all the money I spent. A little alcohol and cortizone cream and its a done deal. This was a week ago and his hair is already starting to fill in the bald spots.
