Default New baby girl

Hello all! Im due with my first child in july (a girl!!!) And I was wondering if anyone has any advice on when to start using anything like olive or coconut oil on babys hair. Or any hair care lines to start using early to wash her hair. I would like to know what nikki uses on Gia's hair. It always looks soo soft! Oh and I live in Raliegh too! So I would like to meet other curly moms! Thanks!

Congratulations! Motherhood is the best experience ever. I have two daughters, the youngest is 4.5 months the other is 5. I wash baby's body and hair with Burt's Bees baby wash and shampoo and I love it. It smells great and is natural. I would personally stay away from Johnsons products...way too many chemicals for baby IMO. Also, I think coconut oil is a great choice to use on skin and hair. I've also used olive oil on her hair...I would put some in her hair before rinsing out the suds and it left it super soft and moisturized. Shea Moisture now has a baby line too. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to. Their products are great and I have used their coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk on my baby and it helps keep her hair soft and moisturized as well. Good luck mama!

There are natural shampoos and conditioners for babies you can use. Or you can just co wash her hair unless she needs it washed(clarified).

I would say try olive oil first on her skin to make sure she doesn't break out. Baby hair doesn't require all the maintenace like ours. And their skin is sensitive at first so be careful.
My sons hair is easy to maintain with some suave shampoo and oil mix.

I used coconut oil in my sons hair early. I would wait a couple of weeks to make sure your daughter doesn't have any allergies but other than that you will be fine. You are a mom now and you will know what to do. My son is 20 months. And I was as scared as you are but the mom instincts kick in as soon as you see their tiny little face. Congratulations.

Congratulations For my 11 month old, I use Aveeno baby wash and I just started using the Shea Moisture baby lotion and it smells SOOOOO good I will probably purchase the other Shea Moisture baby products too. Whatever you do, don't use Johnson's! It gave my baby girl a bad rash last Summer and a few weeks ago when I tried using it again. For her hair, I use Oyin's Jucies and Berries to detangle and coconut oil from time to time to moisturize. I would say to co-wash too, unless baby has buildup and then shampoo.

Congratulations! I have two boys and pregnant again (hopefully a girl) so this third baby will be natural. My boys keep their hair cut low. Although I am not due anytime soon I had the same reservations about what to use when the time comes.

S/N: I am also in the Raleigh area
