Default Need help with 1y/o daughters hair!!

My daughters hair just abruptly changed texture and I'm stumped! She had 3c and 4a in the back. Noe she's 4a in the front and 4c all around the back. I had been detangling am and pm with water and a wide tooth Colby and then moisturizing with coconut oil and Shea butter. Her hair was always soft and bouncy. Now I can't keep the back of it moisturized. It gets so dry and hard. And the curls aren't really curly back there. Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated.

Children's hair can change so much! My daughter's hair seemed to change every year until she turned 3.

Are you detangling twice a day? If so, I'd try to stop that. You may need to try a new moisturizer. For my daughter, I love Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer but there are plenty of others on the market. Children's hair at this age tangles so much. Do you ever do protective styles? Maybe do some twists at night so it doesn't matt up?

As far as the curls, 4c doesn't have a much of a curl pattern, so there's not much you can do about that. You can try other styles though, like coils or twist outs and braid outs for a curl pattern. I'd just embrace her new texture. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you so much! I've done some twists at night but she is a handful. She will have NONE of the hairdos in the day though. She pulls the clips right out and hollers like you wouldn't believe. I don't mind her having a TWA. I think it's cute. Just in the back where her head rubs on the car seat or stroller is rough. And it always looks wild. I'll try a few things and I'll def check out that moisturizer. Thanks so much!
