I've always thought it was boring but I left at 18 and I'm just coming back at 22. My cousin always seems to have a great time any day of the week though. As far as the job market, I say it's pretty decent. Just like every state it has it's good areas and bad. I think every downtown is dangerous but that's my opinion. The price of living is way cheaper than Georgia. A nice apartment runs about $650-$800 depending on how specific you are. Any other specific questions you wanna know just ask. @NhappyJackie and I live down the street from each other. lol.

I thought Birmingham was built up more (I have some of my family there but mainly grands & others near Uniontown & Selma)? I haven't heard nothing overly bad & always thought it was a big city. Best of luck to you in your research & congrats on the offer. Do city data searches, call local police to ask about certain neighborhoods or counties crime rate. Seems like other ladies know about the city 1st hand. Guess it comes down to what you're also in to.

Everything!!! Rentals until I find a home. Schools for my high school senior daughter. (that is still up in the air. She might stay here with gma). What to do? Curly meet ups? Social groups? Churches? weather? Where to get hair stuff? Who does braids? Storage locations? Just too many questions....

Areas to finally settle if/when I buy a home? The position is in birmingham. Compared to this dc commute any commute would be ok.

I second that! Better peace of mind and it's much prettier. Plus, easier access to everything.

Hoover school system is great. As far as nightlife, eh, I'm not much of a partier so I can't tell you. I go to a church in Irondale called Revelation Church Ministries that I adore. Storages are all around so there's no problem finding one. Hair stores? I can't help you with that one just yet. All I know of is Ensley Beauty Supply and I was told we have an Ulta but since I'm PSing right now I haven't taken the time to look. Braids? A lot of Africans around. Weather? It's kinda up and down lately but it doesn't get as cold as DC I'm sure. I lived in NC for three and a half years and NC was way colder than here. Can't answer anything about social groups or curly meet ups because I just came back on the first.
