Oh heck no, he is not doing anyone a favor by delivering pizzas. It's his job!!! If the delivery man isn't happy about not getting tips, he should to try for a promotion or find a new profession. If a customer doesn't want to tip a delivery man/woman or a waiter/waitress, they don't have to. I give tips when they are well deserved and also depending on whether I have the extra few bucks to spare. Tips are like overtime to me. It's nice when you can get it but you can't expect to get it all the time. Especially with the state if the economy. I'm sure the tip issue was explained to your guy when he was hired. If not, that's something he needs to take up with management.

I've had a job as a waitress and tips are nothing like overtime lmao. At my previous place of work our base pay was $4.20/hr (under minimum wage). We literally LIVED off of tips. Now I'm not saying you have to tip for crappy service, by all means DON'T tip for crappy service, but those few extra bucks helps out A LOT!

Now when I go to restaurants I put the tip money on the table and explain to the server that this could potentially be your tip for the night, depending on service. It will go up or down if I feel the need for it. That's an incentive for them to work harder for it as opposed to just doing the bare minimum.

MOST of the time they look at me like I'm crazy lmao. And I don't blame them. Some laugh it off, others give me that 😐 face. Lol I just tell em upfront that I'm not tipping for crappy service. A customer did this to me as a waitress and it definitely made me appreciate the tips that I'd been getting. So I figure y not do it to others lol.
