Is it just me or am I the only one that thinks the government does NOT really count our votes? I honestly feel like they want to make us "think" that our votes matter, but in reality they just trash em, and pick who they want anyway??????? I could be wrong...but just my thoughts.

I've heard others say this as well...it very well may be true but personally, I vote because too many of my ancestors fought and died for me to even have the opportunity to cast a ballot...I make sure that I vote in all elections from local through national...jmo😊

I've heard a lot of thoughts like this as well. We never really truly know what the government or it's officials are really doing lol.
But my opinion is that if you choose not to vote, then you should also choose not to complain about what's going on in your city, county, or country. Why are you complaining about politics if you didn't try to change the current situation by voting for people who's opinions and plans resemble your own? If you put your two cents in by voting, then you can complain about what changes are or aren't made. If not, hush! Just MY opinion folks! |

Yep. The way it was explained was our vote does matter, but in big states if electoral votes reach first then they don't use our vote.
Example State: Texas Time: Last day of voting, 12:00am If electoral votes for either side don't reach 270, by this time, THEN they use our vote... But that's only in big states. Other states do use our vote first. Now I'm not 100% on this but I'm looking it up. Lol Yea, it's a myth to keep us from voting. |

Ok...this is what it is
Basically our vote does matter. Each state is elected a certain number of Electoral voters. When it's time for them to vote, they have a choice to look at the popular vote (our vote) or vote themselves. Most of the time they go with popular vote. Only 4 times in our history have electoral choose not to use "our" vote. Jon Quincy Adams Rutherford B. Haynes Benjamin Harrison George W. Bush (first term) Those are the only times some electoral states decided not to use our vote. And reasons were because of different factors. So all in all our vote does matter. Interesting enough, Russia only uses popular to choose there president. Maybe we should adopt that. Lol |

A lot of money goes into getting votes. If I'm not mistaken. I think our votes do count. I sure hope so!
