How do you all plan on getting a closer and more personal relationship with Christ?

I plan to start studying the bible, making wiser/christ like decisions. Actively participating at church. Doing unto others as I wish they do unto me and whatever else I need to do to be a better me. I want people to look at me and see His like shine through me rather if it's the way I carry myself or the way I talk.

I understand that. It seems that ppl in church can be the most judgemental. When I started gettin upset with ppl bout judging me, I started prayin about it and God told me to cut out anything that I have to explain. He said that if I am trying to be Christ-like, then I must really be serious about it. I don't look down on ANYBODY for havin a lil drink here and there or forgettin themselves and dropping a cuss word. I found that the closer I get to God, the less I have a desire to do those things. I used to be QUEEN of the f word, but praise God, I'm not anymore. When ppl meet me now, they don't believe me when I tell them some of the things I used to do. BUT GOD!!! Oh, but God!! He is such an amazing heart changer and anger subsider. (I don't think that's a word lol) ppl shouldn't down anybody for anything that they do b/c that is what makes ppl shy away from the church. We just have to make sure that our lifestyles are pleasing to God. It's hard to kick the old habits and to staying free from them is even more difficult. I believe that God can break any habit, he can fix any problem, and mend any heart. Jus encouraging you, curly! Stay strong in the Lord, and he will direct your path!

I think a lot of times we don't see the seriousness of the music we listen to, the books we read, the clothes we wear, and the things we watch. The enemy is always trying to use ways to get into our thoughts and ultimately into our hearts. His goal is to make us more interested in other things, things that will distract us so that we will lose interest in God. I love it that you are reaching out and spreading the love of Christ to those who are less fortunate than you. Jesus's whole ministry was about spreading love and helping ppl! Keep on spreading the love of Christ! Be blessed, curly!

One of the things I'm doing to help with my walk is to surround myself more with other disciples of Jesus and that makes a huge difference. Also staying in the word is essential. I am also very careful with things I watch on TV, music I listen to, and activities I do. I've found myself stopping to reach out to the homeless and ppl will look at me like I'm crazy lol. The Bible says when you accept Jesus as Lord and savior it feels like you lose yourself and that's definitely happened with me.

I admire and love your drive and desire to please Christ, but do you think those in the church who were judging you were just holding you accountable, in wanting you to do better. As believers we are to correct and reproof our brothers and sisters in the lord, but those who care correcting should also be careful because they too could be easily tempted with what they are correcting another believer of. It really all boils down to being humble, showing love and understanding because we all want to be like Christ.

Yes ma'am, I do think that some are trying to hold u accountable. I just think that sometimes the way ppl go about it is wrong. You don't talk about ppl and gossip about them if u see them doing something contrary to what they are supposed to be doing. You let them know in brotherly love. Like, "hey, u know the Bible says....., or sis, I see that you are doing this and The Bible says that we should do this." Not, "oooo girl did u hear bout sis patterson??? She kno she wrong for cussin like that!" That's what I was meaning when I said that ppl start judging you and making ppl shy away from the church. I want to be corrected if I'm wrong b/c I don't want to continue in my wrong cuz nobody is holding me accountable. And amen! We all must watch what we r doing so that we r not entering into things that are ungodly! Thank you, curly!

I pretty much separate myself from the negative people I've called my friends. I went through a really bad breakup and pretty much went through it alone. Reminding myself of God's promise has helped me so much.
