Whether or not everyone deserves a life is totally irrelevant to this aspect of the abortion debate. The issue here isn't someone's life. It's whether or not a bundle of cells has a right to existence. Cells are not people and it's absolutely AMAZING to me that some people are willing to put a non-sentient, non-living, unknown thing above the well-being of real, live, knowable women. That prioritizing says a lot about how much women are valued and respected in our society.

Now what's REALLY interesting is that MANY people who will argue that those cells are human and are therefore automatically deserving of a right to life....will turn around and support capital punishment. I'm not saying you OP, I don't know your position on the death penalty. But plenty of pro-"life" folks are also the staunchest believers in killing supposed-criminals.

And if "I", or the bundle of cells that I came from, had been aborted--well, I wouldn't know or care would I? How could I miss something that I never had...how could I miss anything if I didn't exist?

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it just like I will always be pro choice no matter what. As someone just previously stated there are a lot of children currently in the foster system and all kinds of meltdowns due to strain of government assistance programs. I did a speech on this in one of my classes and the statistics will make you gag. The abuse and neglect that these children go through is horrible. Plently of gay couples unable to adopt due to someone's religious beliefs. There are many issues that need to be addressed and fixed before jumping to the extreme of no abortions. Fixing the current state of unwanted children and govt programs should be more urgent than pro life vs pro choice. Don't be quick to judge another woman for the choice she has to ultimately make.

A life is a life even being as small as 2 cells.

I am so against abortion being illegal. I say people need to worry about their own bodies and let other women do what they please.

Ahhhh touchy subject.

I would say that my freshman yr at Towson University, I took a women studies class. We read about the times and things women would do to abort their babies when it was illegal. Mutliation, falling down stairs, etc.

I am all for adoption, but to believe that these kids are going to be adopted by loving people is one-sided in my opinion. It always doesn't happen like that. I hate when people say to just put the kids up for adoption. Look at adoption stats, especially with minority kids.

I'm for the right to choose and I'm not one to judge.

Oh, and I've been a victim of rape. Thank GOD for the Plan B pill.

So when I scrape the skin on my knee, am I killing something? After all, skin is made of cells. Or when men masturbate, are they killing something? After all, sperm are cells.

You are proving this subject means nothing to you, you might as well stop talking.
