Default All Things Low Porosity

Hey!
So I figured we start an thread that will answer every question about low porosity. While researching regimen tips, I realized that there wasn't one thread dedicated to "all things low porosity" so I figured I create one.

We can use this to share tips, answer/ask questions and just find support from other low po divas...

I'll start, I've noticed that just by applying heat and using glycerin and honey in my DC treatments that my hair has continued to stay moisturized and I'm finding myself not having to refresh every few days.

For me, once I moisturize and seal my ends with oil, I'm good. As long as I moisturize my ends nightly and pineapple, my hair doesn't dry out.

I don't have low porosity hair but my daughter does. I'll be checking out this thread regularly to get some tips. It seems that as soon as I'm done wash/conditioning her hair, it's dry. Like the water just won't penetrate her strands, lol. Then anything I put on it after that just sits there unabsorbed. So frustrating! Any suggestions?

Try warming up her conditioner or using heat before washing.

Great thread. Thanks!
I put very few things in my hair that do not have water or AVJ as the first ingredient.
Heat is the best for DC and pre-poo. I also let steam from shower penetrate curls in morning before applying homemade hair spritz and moisturizer.

any effective dc for me can't have any heavy oils as the first 5 ingredients of it will not penetrate. my conditioners can't be thick either. so even something like curl junkie just sat on my hair (what a waste!). i haven't found a good leave in though unfortunately. that's the last frontier.

Oh really? I wanted to try that but I was afraid it wouldn't penetrate and I would be out of cash.
