Hello everyone. I am new to the natural world. I did my BC 08/12/12 and had my last relaxer in April. I am determined to get the hang of being natural but I am so lost and confused. My hair is somewhere between 4b/c. It started so dry and brittle but seems to be holding some moisture now but not much. When I cowash it the water takes forever to saturate my hair yet it dries really fast. I am now starting to see some shedding and breakage. So my question is does it sound like I need to focus more on protein or moisture?

Yes it sounds like you need more protein. Try Aubrey organics gbp it has protein and moisturizes. I had the same problem and it helped.

First step is to find a stylist who works a lot with natural hair. Having that support was crucial for me. I didn't know what I was doing and with breakage, talking to a pro might help. Also it's all about trial and error for the first few months. People talked about the wonders of coconut oil and how moisturizing it was. I tried it and it dried my hair out. I later discovered on here it's a protein oil and I guess my hair isn't a fan of too much protein. I've learned so much from these boards, but its so important to talk to someone who has their hands in your hair. Especially if you are new to the natural game.
