Default Am I the only medium/coarse hair girl here??

i think i use to have thin hair due to my relaxer, but w/out straightening it and using carrot oil and using only protein for a few months, it's helped thicken my hair and showed what my texture is. so i have like medium to thick hair. I srsly cant use products to get thick hair, cuz my hair is already thick and itll just make it poofy and hard if i use harsh ingredients like that. My hair is sensitive ig u can say. I dont think a lot of ppl will reply to this thread much cuz almost every natural ive seen on this forum says they have fine hair.. which i really dont get since their hair looks really coarse..

Anyone representin coarse or medium hair?? I dont wanna be the only one lol

I think they mean fine hair in relation to the thickness of the individual strands of hair, not the amount of hair on their heads . The majority of black/mixed (with black & another race) women's hair is comprised of fine or medium strands. Most of the hair on my head is finely stranded, with a few patches of medium hairs. It's due to genetics, etc.

Hi im a fine head w/normal density. Fine has to do w/how your hair as whole feels to the touch=texture. Mine has always(all my life)felt very light fluffy soft to the touch while a h.s friend of mines hair felt the complete opposite=coarse. Mine appears thick due to a lot of strands & looks coarser than it really is. A coworker assumed I had "true African hair" as she put it😒but when she touched it was quite shocked. You can google "hair texture" & scroll down to "hair texture & how to measure it" for a clear understanding of what I like to call the 6's(hair type=#&letter, curl pattern, density=thick medium thin, porosity=high low normal ,elasticity=high low normal, texture=coarse normal fine.

ohhhhh. ok. i thought it was compared to a white girls hair texture. But ik for sure my hair is in the medium/thick section, ik i have fine hair all around my edges tho.. but my whole head is medium/thick. it feels coarse less i use products on it to soften the touch.. i feel like i cant really say anything cuz im not 100% natural yet.

And @Kinky~In~Two~Ways.. try this.. take the hair out of ur comb or brush, whatever u use, and put it against the light. if u can barely see the hairs at all, u have fine hair.. if u can see the light and the hair (which i am) u have medium hair, if u only see hair, then u have coarse hair

My hair is ridiculous thick/coarse. When I was relaxing it I had to use two coarse perms so that my relaxer would take. Since I went natural its not a problem as much as it use to be.

Ya when I took a 3 month break from straightening with hot tools I noticed my hair was much thicker...I couldn't really handle it and my back to the flat iron.

I had to apply product in sections and comb my hair out in sections.I think the longer it gets the easier because you can do simple styles like a french braid and be done with it.
