you have to have at least a 2.0 to be an Army Officer. You don't have to be athletic, you just can't quick. you will adjust no matter which branch you join, and you are made of strength, so see and it is done. I put in several Officers and Warrants. You will be fine, always seek out meaningful options and network.

I'm so glad I found this topic. Does anyone have tips for transitioners?

I'm 1 year post and am starting army basic training, mid February.

They've told me I'll be unable to wear braids, twists, or wigs in basic. I think they said the same for weave, too, but I'm unsure.

Pony tails with gel helped me. Oh and hair lotions under the gel to keep it from drying out.

Yes pony tails are like the easiest options. But do you ever experience breakage? I feel like the more i wear the ponytails, the thinner my hair gets :-/

I never wore ponytails that much growing up so I don't bare the stress from them. Just don't do them too right and you should be okay.

I'm done with TO!!!! My hair isn't thick enough for them and I end up with crazy gaps/spaces. Now flat twisting on the other hand looks amazing on me. This week to avoid a wet head and keep my hair stretched I will be doing FT. Pics of how I'll be twisting it to follow.

When going to basic, would it be easier to go in with short, big chopped hair, or to transition with a bun?

Also, for those who went in with a fro, were you allowed to wear your fro out or did you have to pin it down during basic?

What gel did you use? How long did it take to do your hair?

It might be easier to go with shorter hair, simply because you won't have enough time to properly take care of your hair. It's up to you though!
