Smile Trying to Open a Natural Hair School/Salon in Charlotte NC

Hello, Im new to the forum... My name is Ms Von and I now see that North Carolina has made it so Natural Hairstylist has to be licensed... Not a bad thing... Im all for it... I will be moving there this March, so that I can get licensed. I then want to go to school to get my Instructor License so that young ladies will ahve a school to go to so that they can learn what they need to in order to get licensed. Does anyone know the requirements to get your instructor license?? Also, you can check out my website at http://aroundofapplause.webs.com

You have to have and active license and actively working for five years. All of the info is on nc board of cosmetic arts website.

There are several schools in Charlotte. I believe Dudley's may be the most popular, but I haven't heard of a school that focuses on natural hair.

In order to pass state board, a school needs to teach it all. I am licensed and there is not a separate exam for blacks and whites, it's all the same. Right now the best thing is to go to somebody school and get licensed and take some continuing Ed classes in natural hair and open your salon/school after you have your years in. But you will still have to follow a state curicullum in order for your students to pass state boards. Unless you are just offering continuing Ed classes.

Default Now Offering Natural Hair/Weave Classes

My name is Jackie, and I am a NC licensed Natural Hair stylist who will soon have my natural hair instructor's license; however, I'm offering a weave class on April 28 with natural hair classes to follow. In response to MsVon, give me a call regarding your natural hair license and the school. I'm currently looking for a building to start the school, but until then I'll be holding Natural Hair workshops.

Contact Jackie @ (704) 957-3909 for more info.

Call to schedule an immediate appointment for weaves/natural hair styling or to register for the weave class.
