I used to go there a long time ago when I was a straight natural. They're good. But it will cost you an arm, a leg, a foot, and a few fingers. Lol.

Tracy or Tonya? I don't think Tracy works there any more...but Tonya...does have a little attitude. I like her, but I choose not to deal with her. Her husband, Ray, is a lot more helpful. A lot of women act like that in Houston, most business owners tend to carry themselves better to attract clients, but I guess it's good cop, bad cop. They lost their jobs and money during the Enron thing, so I blame it on the scars. I prefer giving my money to locally owned business, but I understand business ethics is everything. If I only had to deal with Tonya, I wouldn't go. Fateemah is great. Fateemah is concerned with length and health more in my opinion just from observing her working with other clients. The products work for my 3c/4a hair and my curly son's 3a hair and I like the ingredients it doesn't offer. You're so right to find a place that suits you best. Steve Jobs was rude, but my house is well stock with everything Apple...I support the idea more than the person. Ray is great. Fateemah is great. So, I just avoid Tonya. I say this as I've been back a few times picking up hair product and shopping in their neighboring clothing store. |

I ended up getting it for free. I cancelled my appointment and went in an hour before the place closed. Tonya looked at my hair and gave me good advice which ultimately lead to me BC'ing the same day...lol

This is pretty random, but ... I have my first appointment at a natural salon. My poor ends haven't been clipped since I cut my perm off in March 2011.
I'm going to see Tammy at Zayd's. I'll be sure to come back and let ya'll know how it goes. Tammy was really nice during my consultation and I've heard lots of good things about the salon on here, so I'm excited.

So, went to Zayd's today and wasn't as excited when I left as I thought I would be. I didn't get to the chair until 40 minutes after my appt. While waiting though, I watched Tammy do some really nice comb coils on a lady.
Here was my biggest disappointment though ... she was a lot rougher with my hair than I expected. The shampoo was great. I haven't had someone else shampoo my hair in almost two years ... so that was like heaven. But when it came to detangling and blowing it out, she was kind of rough. I guess I had convinced myself that natural salons knew the hair would be a bit rougher and they would be more patient. Despite my gripe, it really wasn't a bad trip. Once I got in the chair, I was done in under an hour. $20 for a shampoo, blowout, and trim. I'd do it again. I'll probably do a "pre-detangle" the morning of my visit instead of 2 days before like I did this time.

I'm looking for a really good stylist to straighten my hair and add in a few tracks. I'm in a wedding in October so I need to start scoping out stylists quick! I used to go to Ms. Debra at The Root Of You whenever I needed my hair straightened, and OMG...she was theeeee best! But I don't think she's there anymore! I've been hearing a lot about Natural Resources. I kind of want to try them out. Has anyone gotten their hair straightenend there?
