Default Color Hair #Fail (Clairol Beautiful Collection)

So I decided I want color, I have always had color UNTIL I went natural. I went to 2 different Target's today looking for the Shea Moisture Color Kit, and neither had it. So I went to Sally to see if there was a second runner up. I chose this brand as it was the only other product that had no ammonia or peroxide.
I have attached my completed FAIL below! lol My goal was a more "redder" look. My after picture is after I rinsed color out and deep conditioned. I have sat and twisted up for tomorrow (rocking a curly puff), MAYBE some color will appear then. Not sure I will experiment in the area of color again.

You might have to lighten your hair first

Did you air under a dryer when you used this? Because your hair is so dark and this is a semi permanent color (a rinse) you need to have sat under dryer. Deep conditioning may not have help as well because it was a rinse.

May I just add, being a person who wore Clairol perm color for years, the products has to be applied to clean dry hair and since the Beautiful collection is a rinse it does not LIFT your color it deposits color ONLY and probably will have little or no effect on dark hair. Clairol makes a Demi perm color. You may want to look into that. It lasts 4-6 weeks not perm color nor semi perm color.

Thank you. I bagged it and wrapped it up so that it was warm, but not under a dryer. I didnt know I had to lighten it first, will have to read up on how to do it. Thanks for the additional information on Clairol products. I probably should have just ordered the Shea Moisture color kit, but wonders....if it would have had the same effect....

Shea Moisture has peroxide. If you're fine with the SM you could try something else with no ammonia but with peroxide...for sure that will lift your color.

Is peroxide bad for your hair?

Peroxide isn't a good chemical for the hair, no. I'm not sure how it can be used in moderation when you gotta use it again and again to touch up the color. We aren't in control of how much is used in any given product anyway, so there's no way to moderate. Do go for it if you'd like though, the hair isn't going to fall off and it isn't worth unhappiness if coloring makes you happy.

It does look super on you Tiny-Gabby, sassy!
