Unfortunately, what you used is a semi-perm, or what some people call a rinse. A rinse is only really visible in direct sunlight (as more of tint--think cellophane or henna). It will also really show up if you have lighter hair. I also have super dark brown hair and these have never worked for me. I just get a bit of shine and a hint of color in the sun.
Permanent dye will lift your hair color, but YES it can damage your hair. My advice is that, if you would like to take the permanent color route (which is the only way someone with our hair color will get desired results), that you make sure your hair is in tip top shape first. That will help to minimize damage. Good luck! |

Thanks Peezy,
I didnt like how I risked my hair on something I knew nothing about, so I have decided not to get any color at this time. Im only just under 5 months natural and I dont want to ruin what I have worked so hard for. Im just so used to having color that I was itching for a tad bit, lol, I still might try to find the shea moisture brand, but Ive been to 3 different Target stores here and non carry them in my area.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You'll know when you can color and starting with healthy hair will make it look even better.
