Can I use lemon juice for lightening and then henna for better reddish or Burgundy tones. My hair is too dark to see my henna tones. I usually use Jamila henna, but I recently ordered some rajasthani henna for better color results.
Thanks for your help ladies! |

I wonder if there are any other natural ways to color our hair other than lemon and henna...

Add honey to henna mix let it sit overnite. The streak of color tones should show in a few days or so.
Other things can be used for ones peference o.j. red zinger tea, or hibscus powder hth. Sent from my HTC Status using CurlyNikki App

I did a Rajasthani henna today and I love it way better than Jamila, because it rinsed out really easy it didn't have the hay smell like Jamila. but again I only see the tones when I stand in certain light, but I guess I will give it a day or two to see what happens.
My henna mix was Rajasthani henna, Hibiscus powder, yogurt, chamomile and green tea with a squeeze of lemon. the color developed almost instantly. I did a stain test after 10mins, let it sit overnight, way better than Jamila. after completely rinsing the henna I applied my homemade moisterizing mask (Extra dark Jamaican black castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, honey, and tresseme moisture condioner) and used my Huetiful steamer twice before rinsing so the deep conditioner was in for 3 hours. I rinsed and my hair was sooo soft. Rajasthani is what I Will use from now on. Side note: I may have to use a box color to lighten my hair to see my henna color results |

After two days its the same burgundy tones, however only under certain light.
Now my question is can I use a box color to get my hair lighter and how long do I need to wait to do it. I tryed the lemon thing which requires being out in the sun for up to 2 hours. I lasted for about an hour with no results at all. PLEASE HELP ME LADIES I WANT SOME DANG COLOR IN MY HAIR!!!!!!!! Sent from my SGH-T849 using CurlyNikki App |

It's take henna'ing overtime for the color to show. And it is best to let the henna sit overnite so the dye releases better. They say you should wait at least a month or two if you would like to add box color. Dont worry I feel the same way lol. I did alot henna last summer and I love the undertone color to me i seen it more than this year as I kinda switched henna's. I currently use rajsthanti too. I like the way it feels more thick and moisturizing. I was using punjabi prime a rose red color. I am thinking of getting highlights bc my hair is still naturally dark and it is just noticable in the natural sunlight.
And it best to protein/ deep conditon prior two weeks before adding color. Hth good luck. ![]() Quote:

Thanks Tarissa01!!! it helps, however.
I have been doing the henna thing for a while now almost a year. thats why I am so irritated, I have done it overnight (miserable); and I had the same results. I think I will use it now for conditioning results and leave the color thing alone as far as trying to get henna to give me the color I want. |

No problem. I understand how you feel. I havent dye my hair in a long, long time. I did mines when I was in my relaxed days by a professional I had honey blonde something of the sort. But I do feel like i want it more vibrant sometimes. I want it to show more bc I get so confused if I want to pick up a box , or go to a professional again.
I used hisbicus , the tea everything natural i can think of but i've yet to try beet juice to the mix. Imma give it one more go with that. Then I will decide from there. Quote:
