This is a Facebook challenge but this thread will be for curlies here to do as well. If you want to officially join the challenge I will be posting the link, anyone can join at anytime thought as soon as possible would be ideal. All the guidelines are at the link.
Personally, I don't follow all of them because there's certain things I don't have and I do what works for my hair. https://m.facebook.com/note.php?comm...45795042113850 The current sub-challenge is scalp massaging. Every night as you set your hair for bed, take 5-7 minutes to massage your scalp. It can be done with or without oil on your fingertips. This sub challenge is 2 months, after the first month (July 7th-August 7th) the massages should be done twice a day. If you decide to join, post tips you think will be helpful. Also your starting measurements and just a picture of your hair to start. Every so often, we should do length checks and note change in products and in our hair if we notice any. The ultimate of this challenge is HEALTHY hair. Even if your hair is not waist length at the end or you don't want waist length hair, remember our real aim is healthy hair. I'll cheer you all on. I keep saying I'm going to grow my hair to waist length but then realize I only want long hair to say I have it. I was about three inches from waist length and cut it to apl a week ago cause I was tired of dealing with it. Good luck.

The original Facebook 2 year waist length challenge started back in May, but I suppose here on CN we can start whenever we like. I'll be officially starting August 1st. You can tweak the rules to your liking, but I'm going to try to follow them the best I can. I'll post the sub challenges as they come. Please post pictures of beginning length, and growth each month. We are all here to support each other. And whether we reach waist length or not, the ultimate goal is healthy hair.
Here are the rules (these are the ones posted on Facebook, I will also post the subchallenges that are on Facebook): -Have your last trim before starting the challenge & ONLY trim at 6 month intervals if needed -Wash/Cleanse your hair 1x per week -Always do Hot Oil Treatments before (pre-poo) or after you wash your hair -Always Deep Condition after every Wash & Hot Oil treatment followed by a Leave In Conditioner -Blot hair with a t-shirt & Air dry the hair 99% of the time -Remain FAITHFUL to Moisturizing & Sealing your ends at least 3x a week to prevent breakage & split ends -Wear protective or low manipulation styles 3-5x a week -No heat (blow drying, flat iron, curling iron, etc.) until you’ve been in the challenge for at least 2 months, after that you’re allowed only one (1) Heat pass per month -If you are relaxed, stretch your relaxer at least 10 weeks. -Take a hair growth aide or multivitamin if you choose to benefit the health & growth of your hair & body (Discuss this with your physician to see if this is appropriate for you & your health) -ALWAYS protect your hair at night with a silk/satin scarf and/or bonnet. Sleeping with a satin pillowcase will be beneficial as well. -Eat a healthy diet, eliminating fast food and as many processed foods as possible -Exercise at least 2-3x a week, whether it’s walking, running, jogging, aerobics, etc. Do something that will get your heart pumping & get your blood flow circulating. -Drink PLENTY of water -Keep your hands OUT of your hair when you’re not styling or massaging it -Every day, look in the mirror at yourself & say a positive affirmation about yourself to motivate yourself. Take a picture of your hair before starting this challenge. At the end of every other month, take a picture and do a length check to track how your hair is coming along. Thank you. I tried to post the rules but my phone was being stupid. I don't wanna close it but I think the first is a good official start date and joining can on the 8th or the end of the month. I just want people to have ample time to join but for us to be close to on the same page.

Here is the latest sub-challenge, Scalp Massages. It says after 30 days to do Massages 2x, instead of 1x. I'm going to try 2x daily from the get go, but of course to each his own
: Daily scalp massages have been proven to be a very effective hair growth aid and they REALLY boost hair growth. Just like our skin, our scalp needs to be pampered and moisturized. Good circulation is an important element in the natural hair growth journey and scalp massages are enjoyable way to relax and boost your hair’s ability to grow. Requirements: 1. Massage scalp 1x daily (for the 1st 30 days) 5-10 minutes in the morning or at night 2. Massage scalp 2x daily (for the final 30 days) 5-10 minutes in the morning or at night Don’t look at this as a chore, but an exciting part of your Healthy Hair Growth Journey. Remember, anything you do for 30-days will become a habit and growing healthy hair is a great habit to create. Let’s get our Massage on! How to do Scalp Massages You can massage your scalp, using the pads of your fingers with any oil of choice or none (if allergic or scalp doesn’t like oil). Pour some oil into a bowl and warm the oil by placing the bowl in some hot water. The oil should be warm but comfortable to the touch. Or you can just use your favorite oil straight from the bottle. Using the pads of your fingers, apply the oil little by little to different parts of your scalp, parting your hair as needed. Then, using the pads of your fingers, work the oil into your scalp, using circular motions. Slow, deliberate movements are relaxing while steady but vigorous movement helps enhance energy and circulation. Sample list of oils for scalp massages Extra Virgin Olive Oil Avocado Oil Coconut Oil Castor Oil Jojoba Oil Almond Oil Emu Oil Jamaican Black Castor Oil Grapeseed Oil Neem Oil Nappturalistic Beauty’s Hair Growth Serum Blend *Burdock Oil *Basil Oil *Tea Tree Oil *Lavender Oil *Peppermint Oil *Rosemary Oil *Essential Oil that should be used with a carrier oil such as Jojoba, Castor or Olive Oil. **IMPORTANT** Information for Scalp Massage Challenge You must note that most essential oils are very strong and should be used only after diluting it with a carrier oil. Remember, essential oils are VERY concentrated and shouldn’t be used directly on the skin or hair. Before using them you must also consult your health care provider as some oils could cause irritation and allergic reactions in the body. Sent from my ADR6350 using CurlyNikki App
