These are some of the types of tea leaves and their benefits and how to use them in your hair

Catnip: Promotes healthy hair growth
Chamomile: Softens hair, soothes the scalp, lighten and conditions (people use it with honey to bring out natural highlights). Chamomile is also known to stimulate growth.
Horsetail: Helps brittle hair due to its high silica content.
Lavender: Stimulates hair growth
Nettle: conditions, improves texture, helps with dandruff, irritated scalp, and dry scalp
Parsley: enriches hair color and gives a nice luster
Plantain: great for dry, irritated scalp, dandruff, and seborrhea
Peppermint: stimulates the scalp
Rosemary: Acts as a tonic and conditioner, one of the best herbs to use, gives luster and body, stimulates growth, helps with dandruff, and brings out dark highlights in the hair.
Sage: Very effective in restoring color to graying hair, excellent for weak brittle hair
Saw Palmetto: good for thinning hair and hair loss
Thyme: good for oily hair and dandruff
Witch Hazel: cleanses hair

After you've decided which herb(s) will get the job done, follow the steps below:
Place the herb(s) in a pitcher (glass is ideal).
Pour boiling water over the herb(s), cover, and steep for 10-20 minutes.
Strain the mixture and allow the liquid to cool.
Pour over your head after your regular shampoo, condition, and detangling session. Do not rinse.

Are there any specific quantities of herbs that should be used? Or is it the case of throwing out in the mix - done in the mixtress way?

I have been using powdered herbs since last year. I used them primarily for spritzes and oil infusions, henna, amla, bentonite pastes. i now have been using them in my DC, Pre poo, and even my shampoo weekly! I love it!
I have Marshmallow root, burdock, nettle, irish moss, alfalfa, kelp, rose hips, my boo horsetail, hops, cocoa, guar gum to thicken my pastes, fenugreek, blue malva (flower) calendula (cut flowers), my boo hibiscus (cut flowers)chamomille, peppermint tea, hibiscus & rosehips tea bags, linden tea bags, sage (cut), green and black tea bags, plantain is somewhere....I use 1/8 tsp of no more than four in my dc nuke it to melt a lil add some molasses/honey/agave nectar and an oil (hempseed, wheat germ mustard, sunflower, EVCO, EVOO,apricot kernal sweet almond, castor, mac nut, grapeseed, jojoba, seaseme, vatika, amla oil) and a few drops of 3 essential oil: rosemary, lavernder in tea tree oil, french lavender chamomille in jojoba oil, ylang ylang, peppermint, bergamont, orange, lemon, clary sage...

Wow! That's quite a list! Seems like you've had a LOT of fun with the mixtures! I'm going to give it a try!

Just one more question. I've got a few greys and I want to treat them. I see you have tea, sage and rosemary in the list. I know that hibiscus gives a red tone when brewed. Does it tint the hair in anyway?

Its my stress relief...I had a grey hair that turned coppery red when i using cassia and henna with Hibiscus. But alone the sage and rosemary? I dont think they will tint the hair. I cant find any greys anymore but my hennas dont give me a boatload of color like evryone else it may look a burgandy-ish in some light but that's all...
I did a rinse with coffee and blk tea once that helped but it was temporary and my fingernails looked like i worked as a mechanic. Never tried again. plus i heard you should not mix coffee and blk/grn teas... i suspect the amla brahmi and molasses and hibiscus keep my grey at bay and prevents the orangy coppery color form coming through my henna...i also heard too much tea will stunt growth. i sued to use every day in my spritz cuz supposed to help with growth...another case of too much of good thing is bad...
but i would def add hibiscus and molasses darkens and not honey as it lightens, cocoa powder in a paste and see where it takes you. I like to let my hibiscus sit for days in the fridge after brewing.
