HELP!! I've been doing a great job at maintaining the moisture in my hair and the shine and softness is great but my scalp (especially the front hairline) is really dry and flaky! I've tried the Jane Carter pre-poo scalp renew and then used a soft bristle toothbrush to lift any dry skin that's there and will follow up with EVOO after I wash but it doesn't seem to be working...does anyone have any recommendations on what I can try to get rid of this terrible dryness and flakiness?!

I've experienced this and the best thing I've found is the avocado mix of avocados, olive oil and water.

This seems to be a problem for a lot of naturals and it deserves a thread, I'm going to be checking in on this thread because I experience this same problem.

What is this avocado mix? I want to try it on my scalp. How exactly do you make it and apply it?

I've just started having this problem the last few weeks. My scalp isnt flaking but it's so dry that's it's red and hurts! And it itches to the point I scratched and drew blood once. It doesn't make a difference if I've just cleaned my scalp or not so its not build up. I hope someone suggests something that helps because I'm going crazy!

I haven't tried it yet but an ACV Rinse might help.
I have braids in now but before I got then I would pour mouth wash (alcohol free) on my scalp and then put a pre poo/conditioner on then wash
Also tea tree oil is good for a flamed scalp but I also like Jojoba oil it feels great on a clean scalp

I use two avocados, cut the avocados open, remove pit, scoop into blender, add about 2-4 tablespoons of olive oil, add a little water and blend. You want your mixture to be like a pudding, apply to hair and scalp, leave on for at least 45-1 hour or more, rinse out with warm water, co-wash and deep condition if you want to, sometimes I still deep condition because I'm so in the habit of using conditioner. Your scalp should feel better and it should also feel moist as should your strands. Adjust the mixture to what your hair wants less avocados, less olive oil, less water or more of each, you'll figure it out.

Thanks girl. I'll see what happens when I try it.
