    Hi Kila,
You picked a good weekend to come to the Nati. Cincy just opened a casino called the Horseshoe so there will be plenty to do around there this weekend. Looking for shopping? Go to Kenwood Mall or Monroe Outlets. I am not sure about the club scene because I don't really go out. I can ask my daughters and let you know. I have never gotten a PM so I wasn't sure where to respond or how to respond. So I ended up here. Have fun on your weekend. If you like seafood, go to Pappadeaux. If not, go to SMOQ. Everything that you can get there is the bomb.

Hi there! I was browsing the forum and saw that you were here in the same city as me! I don't see too many of us jumping around Twitter or blogs or Tumblr. So anyway...hello.

liol - let me know what product you find with that "little number 1" on it. I'm still trying to find my staple products, I'm almost there but not quite yet. It sounds like you have a pretty good regimen, just make sure you add extra conditioner at the line where the relaxed hair meets the natural hair - it's extra fragile. Also, If you can do as many protective styles as possible to avoid manipulating the hair too much until you're ready to cut the remaining relaxer off.

Right now I wash my hair every week. I sweat too much not to. Currently I shampoo&condition with my pretty hair is parched -renpure organics- I use Jane Carters nutrient replenishing conditioner as a deep conditioner. I also use Janes wrap&roll -when I flat iron-. to add a little more moisture I use Elasta QP olive oil&mango butter at the moment. Im still deciding if I like that. I just purchased Curls curl creme brule from Target. I decided I wasnt going to flat iron every week for obvious reasons.

I have no idea lol Im just looking for that little number 1 to pop up on the upper right hand side.

Hi Kila :-) the olive oil may be too heavy for hair with the relaxer still on it - try a little of Virgin Coconut oil - a little goes a long way. What is your current regimen; shampoo - what product, conditioner and deep conditioner? How long do you want to transition?

I have another question for you - non-hair related. How do I get notified of new from you. I can't find where to change notification settings for "visitor messages"

Oh I forgot to say my name smh..my name is Kila -Kyla-. I only have a bang in the front, some on the sides and in the back. I have been transitioning since July of last year. I really did it on accident. I was working at a summer camp, and didn't want to keep perming my hair&swim with the kids.

I have noticed before when I used to use the olive oil perm my hair would get heavy, I feel like I had to wash my hair again.

First, I'm Andrea - nice to meet you. :-) There's nothing to be nervous about and the beauty of natural hair, is that if something doesn't work, you can twist your hair up in a nice updo or wash it again and start over. On your question:

    1. What is a good oil recipe: it really depends on your hair. My hair hates the heavier oils, such as Olive Oil and even Shea Butter. I would recommend trying one or two oils first and seeing how your hair responds. My recommendation would be to try EVOO and a lighter oil, such as Coconut Oil. If your hair doesn't like it, you can always cook with them. Oils are used to seal in the moisture and both EVOO and Virgin Coconut Oil penetrate the hair shaft, just experiment with the amount needed for your hair.

How much relaxer do you have left in your hair and how long have you been transitioning, without perm?
