liol - let me know what product you find with that "little number 1" on it. I'm still trying to find my staple products, I'm almost there but not quite yet. It sounds like you have a pretty good regimen, just make sure you add extra conditioner at the line where the relaxed hair meets the natural hair - it's extra fragile. Also, If you can do as many protective styles as possible to avoid manipulating the hair too much until you're ready to cut the remaining relaxer off.

Hi Kila :-) the olive oil may be too heavy for hair with the relaxer still on it - try a little of Virgin Coconut oil - a little goes a long way. What is your current regimen; shampoo - what product, conditioner and deep conditioner? How long do you want to transition?

I have another question for you - non-hair related. How do I get notified of new from you. I can't find where to change notification settings for "visitor messages"

First, I'm Andrea - nice to meet you. :-) There's nothing to be nervous about and the beauty of natural hair, is that if something doesn't work, you can twist your hair up in a nice updo or wash it again and start over. On your question:

    1. What is a good oil recipe: it really depends on your hair. My hair hates the heavier oils, such as Olive Oil and even Shea Butter. I would recommend trying one or two oils first and seeing how your hair responds. My recommendation would be to try EVOO and a lighter oil, such as Coconut Oil. If your hair doesn't like it, you can always cook with them. Oils are used to seal in the moisture and both EVOO and Virgin Coconut Oil penetrate the hair shaft, just experiment with the amount needed for your hair.

How much relaxer do you have left in your hair and how long have you been transitioning, without perm?

Thank you for replying to my thread!! I'm so nervous about everything! I chickened out about cutting allllllll of my perm off. I just don't want to screw anything up. I think I'm nervous because I have read so much. I have a couple questions as of now. What is a good oil recipe? It is safe to put the oils on my hair straight? Whats a good regimen?
