My mother kiddie permed my hair at the age of 4, because of the length & thickness of my hair. In 2003, while in the 12th grade, I bc, not because I wanted to, or cared about the health of my hair, but because my mom was tired of perming it. By that time my hair was thin & damaged. I was left to care for my own hair at the age of 17 & knew nothing but old school hair care. I starting taking care of my hair in 2010 when I moved to Texas. I saw many black women on Youtube who were successful in growing their hair, long & strong, so I decided to try my hand. The good thing is, when I started my "journey" in 2010, I had already cut my hair shoulder length as a styling option. It was the perfect time, since I was rid of split ends, perm and had no damaged hair. Since then my hair is now armpit length, thick, full & healthy again! My goal is waist length & I plan to reach it by the time I graduate from grad school in 2015. Well...that's my story, I would love to hear yours!
