Default Getting so freaking discouraged!!!!!!!

I am 3 months into my loc journey and I'm so frustrated. My hair doesn't even resemble locs. Any time I wash they pretty much unravel.......my tips are still spiral curls. I'm so disappointed. I know this is a process but I at least expected to have something going on.

How long did it take for everyone's hair to loc enough to where you could freely wash without worry? First off, your coils look REALLY good! My baby girl will reach her one year mark on the 16th of this month (I can't believe it's already March!!) ... She got what's called "locs right now" with her roots interlocked being that she's a child and coils and anything other than, would unravel. Check with your loctician about your progress, because "something" may be going on more than you realize ...

PM Lady Judah ... she's my resident loc expert, although she's not loc'd at the moment; she's got years of experience with her locs and she may be crossing back over at anytime!

There's nothing wrong with them. It's still just really early. I'll tell you more when I get off work as far as maintenance.

Alrighty, I'm home now. First off, breaaaathe. I've certainly been there. As frustrating as it is, it's normal for these two reasons especially:
1) You're still in the baby stages
2) Your locs were started with coils

Coils are the most prone to unraveling though I prefer starting locs with coils myself. They tend to look like your traditional loc the fastest. Many don't see any serious locking until maybe the 6th month in. Occasionally sooner. Your hair texture also plays a role (no not that 4b, 2c, etc stuff).

A few questions before I go on:
1) How often are you washing?
2) What are you washing with?
3) How are you drying?
4) How often do you retwist?
5) How are you retwisting?
6) What do you do with your hair at night?
7) What are you using to retwist?

Ok, so that was more than a few lol. But the answers will help me help you. And I totally agree with the others, your coils are very nice.

I saturate with witch hazel/water mix bi-weekly or whenever I feel like its getting a build up or itch. I air dry only. I retwist every 3 weeks. I palm roll. At night I sleep with a satin scarf and if it feels dry I apply some loose natural oil. I'm currently using aloe Vera gel to retwist.

Idk if this plays a factor but I am pregnant...and I know during pregnancy there isn't much shedding

Hmm, never been pregnant so I'm not sure about that either but palm rolling is probably your issue. Palm rolling is really not recommended until you're much further along in your journey. With baby locs it will cause them to be loose since they're not thick on the insides yet, thus resulting in them being flattened when being rolled. In the beginning it's better to twist just the roots with your fingers (or if you're skilled enough, with a comb) then if need be, apply a double prong clip to the root you twisted. The rest of your regimen is pretty good.
