I have done a lot of research and asked questiond during my consultation but what should I be doing nightly once the starter locs are in (can you tell I am used to having a nightly routine with this loose hair LOL). Do I simply apply a little oil and tie them down with a scarf before bedtime? Do I spritz with water or is it no water before a week or two? there are so many different "best practices" out there I don't know which one to try.

That's really because "best practices" are subjective. It'll depend on your personal needs. One thing you'll definitely want is some sort of anti-itch spray be it store bought or homemade. While some will tell you not to wash for an extended period of time in the beginning, that's not required. People do that as not to disturb the baby locs because depending on how they were started they have the tendency to unravel. At night you could use a moisturizing spray but be sure it's mostly water. Locs are a lot more prone to buildup than loose hair. Keep your products simple. Be sure not to tight your scarf too tight either because that will flatten the locs on top.

CONGRATS!! If you don't mind, could you please detail the process? I know there are many ways to start locs, so I'm curious as to how you started yours. Thanks!

Sure; I went to a natural hair salon that specializes in locs. My loctician did the back combing method and added a small amount of hair into mine... he gave me a thorough washing, conditioner and hot oil treatment and then went to work... My hair is super thick so it took him a little longer than expected but he took his time... I am loving them already!

Wow, those look amazing. Every YT vid I've seen where people used the back combing method resulted in really messy starters. Yours will mature quite nicely. I can already tell.

Congrats on your decision. Your story is very similar to mine. Loose hair was not fun for me either lol! I started my set of starters in June. Patience is definitely something u need during this process. I personally feel hideous lol but I know the end result will be fabulous.
