Default Your Regime to Maintaining Your Locs

List your regime....

For starters I allow my loctician to retwist my hair every other month. When first starting out it was monthly, however good maintainence in-between retwisting helps preserves my locs & keep them neat.

I rub oil on my hands & rub it on the roots of my locs & dab it on the remainer of the locs, this helps reduces frizz. I do this on a daily basis but I dnt use too much, after a while you can guage wht your hair needs. I spray water on my hair & shea moisture hold & shine moisture mist on my hair several times throughout the week, I do this before I go to bed & in the morning I seal in the moisture w/the oiling method I previously described.

I also use taliah waajid mist bodifier, olive oil, jojoba oil, grape seed oil, carrott oil, coconut oil (my hair's fav.lol), wild hair growth oil...and thts it for the most part. Oh, I also use a protein spray once a month, its a leave it tht has keratin & green tea.

Each nght I tie my hair w/a silk scarf & sleep on a satin pillowcase...these avoids dryness & helps maintain moisture.

Everyday I take a 5,000mcg biotin pill.

I oil my scalp 2-3 a wk with an assortment of oils (coconut, jojoba, almond, tea tree, peppermint, orange, olive, jamaican black castor oil, grape seed, alvocado,& vit E) all mixed together. Also I use that wild growth hair oil 2-3 wk 20 drops.

Every 2 wks I shampoo I either use a shampoo bar or Dr. Bronners diluted. I know you're not supposed to wash it in the beginning but I said screw that, & nothing happened coils & parts are still there.lol

Every month or longer I retwist with the organic root stimulator twist & lock gel or I use that talijah waajid tight hold gel.

I keep everything simple and low maintenance.

Geeez. U guys do a GREAT job maintaining your locs! Man o man that's a lot of stuff. Let me think about mine ..

Every 2 or so days I oil my scalp with Jamaican Mango and Lime Island oil (rub this oil on my locs every other day). I mist my hair with herbal conditioning twists n locs spray the days my hair or scalp seems "thirsty".

I wash every 2 weeks with mane and tails clarifying shampoo and twist with princess kayla's nattylocks cream

Tie my hair down every night

Yea...that's about it

I get my locs professionally retwisted once a month (since I'm home for the summer). Umm everything else is up in the air lol. I oil my locs and scalp every once in a while. Sometimes I wash and don't retwist. It depends on how I feel and how my hair is acting. My babies don't require much at all. I actually WANT my hair to need something so I can make my own little concoctions but my hair is so chill. lol

Since it's summer and I am working out more, I wash about 2-3 times a week with Dr. Bronner's soap and rinse with ACV. Sometimes I retwist with water, lemongrass oil and a tiny bit of aloe mixed together in a spray bottle, sometimes I don't. I try interlocking about once every 6 weeks. Doing braid outs help in not worrying about my roots. I usually moisturize my hair with Hollywood Beauty's Carrot Oil or SheaMoisture's Organic Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Elixir.

I wash and retwist my locs every two weeks. I use carol's daughter rosemary mint shampoo with a little baking soda. Sometimes I use peppermint castile soap.

I use jamaican mango and lime locking gel to retwist. I oil my scalp with grapeseed oil and lavender. Sometimes i use nature's blessing made.

I bought black castle oil for my edges but find myself using it more on my face, hands and feet after a shower. A little goes a long way.

I'm simple:
Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo because - feels minty and prevents dandruff. I have long locs (7years in) so I shampoo from root to tip.

Argan oil conditioner - penetrates shaft very well. Leave it for 10 mins n rinse with coolish water to seal in moisture.
If I have xtra time I do a hot oil treatment with Argan oil.

While wet I mist the full length of my locs with a glosser for a little shine that way it sits on top of the hair. Using a glosser on dry locs is pointless as the loc will just absorb it.
Lil bit of oil on my scalp bronner brothers tropical roots oil I think I like taliah waajihd oil better though.

Twist with bronner brothers tropical roots firm holding gel. Then under the dryer.

For a style to hold well use taliah waajid's holding foam (can't remember exact name, it comes in a white bottle with black writing) it lasts for a looooooong time much better than those setting lotions by others.

P.S. I like all taliah waajid products but can't find the whole product line all the time.

Upkeep: oil when my scalp is thirsty (once a week for me typically) and scarf at night

Repeat once a month
