Beautiful! Love the color you chose!
I've started back working on a blanket I began over a year ago. It's a blanket I started to use up my scrap skeins of yarn. The colors are weird as a result, but it's not really meant to be cute... Just something to snuggle under while watching TV or something. I'll post pics of it when I get home.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
Here is my "ugly blanket" LOL As I explained earlier, I'm making the blanket to use up my scrap skeins of yarn. So, the colors may look odd...I'm trying to arrange the colors in the most appealing way though. I have a bright spring green color that will be next and then I have a skein of pastel yellow. I will then edge it with one row of each color to finish it.
I'm annoyed though b/c it's starting to ripple on the edges and it won't lay flat. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I think it's because I started this blanket a year ago and I just picked it up a week or so ago to finish and my gauge may be a little different now. It would lie flat before I started working on the blanket again recently. Oh well, that's what I get for taking so long to finish projects. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] It doesn't really matter though b/c the blanket is for me...but still...I'd like for it to lay flat.
Enough babbling...here's the blanket:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also, I just found out today that my best friend is pregnant with her first child. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So, I have some crocheting to do. I'm going to try really hard to stay on task and finish a baby blanket for her before she gives birth. I've got about 7 months. Think I can do it? LOL Time to rein in my short attention span.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
There's a great baby blanket pattern on Ravelry. I'm actually working on it now it's amazing.
Question:
Anyone find any silk yarn? I wanna make myself some tams but I have no clue how to line a FO. I figured skip the lining and just make it out of silk yarn. I'm not finding many options though.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
This might help with the lining, you would just have to tack it on all the way to the top.

And you can find some silk yarn on Amazon and other online stores.

no, you would have to use satin or silk fabric

No I was talking about the yarns I was finding. They weren't 100% silk. The ones that were 100% are bland colors or fashion yarn/mohair. Nothing I would put on my head or that is the look I'm going for.
Maybe I'm being too picky.

Have you tried Etsy? There is a lot of handspun silk yarn on there. Most is a blend with wool, but I do remember seeing a few with 100% silk yarn. It can be pricey though. It can range from $20-$35 a skein and maybe more.

You're welcome! I hope you find what you're looking for. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I was browsing baby afghan patterns on Ravelry and came across THIS. As I mentioned earlier, my very best friend is expecting her first child and I was thinking that I could make it in white and it would be more of a keepsake. I would also make something more practical that wouldn't take as long. I may not make the fancy blanket b/c I will probably get bored with it, but I REALLY like that blanket. We'll see.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
I saw that you ladies were talking about baby blankets and I got an email from Lion Brand Yarn showcasing 4 different blankets. These 2 caught my eye:
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90364AD.html?noImages=&utm_source=20100305_Mar05th_Split1&utm_medium=Emails&utm_campaign=Weeklynewsletter&utm_content=Blankets-GardenCoverlet&r=1
and

The first one is crochet and I love it. It looks kind of small based on the measurements but I'm it can be modified to be bigger.
The second one I think is knit but I like the look of it.

Thank you! I'm still searching for the right pattern, but I'm feeling motivated.

I really like both of those! I would like to try the knit blanket, but I knit painfully slow. I may attempt to knit some soft baby cloths. She said she would like that. If I knit something, I'll have to start small. Hopefully, I'll get faster and work my way up to knitting blankets.

That is too cute! I really like it.
I'm printing all three of these patterns out. She requested some stuffed animals as well. She says she wants to do a jungle theme in the nursery, so I think this would be a good opportunity to try the Lion Brand elephant stuffed animal like the one NTCM did.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
As I browse baby blanket patterns, if I see a pattern that involves particular stitches, I skip it. Do you guys have stitches that is deal breaker for patterns b/c you just hate doing them?
I HATE doing bobbles and puff stitches. If I see a pattern with those, I just bypass it. I don't care how cute it is.

Well, I only know single, double, half double and triple. If a pattern calls for something else I haven't tried I'm more likely to keep looking.

Re: Crochet Anyone???
Wow.. so many talented crocheters and so much inspiration in this thread!
I'm new to crochet too. I am teaching myself and I started last year. So far I've made a few scarves, a few hats, two shawls, fingerless gloves, and I'm currently working on a shrug for my mother (which I promised to finish for her by Christmas of last year..lol.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I'm still working on it). Pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60040.html?noImages=
It's really easy but kinda boring now.. I have 9 more inches (out of 80 inches) of single crochet to go.. Plus, I have a dresser drawer with 9 lbs. of yarn (which I ordered here: http://smileysyarns.com/) that I have yet to use.

Oh that is a cute shrug Bekka!! Clothing items intimidate me. Plus I get tired of doing things and end up putting it down unfinished. That's why I tend to stick with small projects. One day I'll stick it out!

I hear ya about small projects, Jamaicacurl..lol. I think I've learned my lesson for now. Once I finish this shrug I will do smaller items for a while, although I would like to still work on bigger pieces like afghans, or medium sized items like baby blankets.
And this particular shrug is definitely not intimidating. It's so easy, just takes a long long time. Patience (as an Aries) is not my strong suit!
