Default How much oil ???

Tomorrow I will be making my first homemade Shea butter mix. I will be using jojoba, grapeseed, evoo, rosemary, sweet almond oil. How much of each should I use? And how should I melt the Shea butter? And is there any of these oils I should not mix?

Put everything in a plastic bowl then place that bowl into a pot of hot water. That's what I do

I usually use a hand mixer and leave Shea at room temp cuz when i mix other oils it makes it creamy. If i melt it i have to wait until it solidifies to use it...

When I make mine, I heat it in a double boiler just till it melts, add oils, then I blend it over and ice bath till its creamy. Once it completely cools its usually quite soft and a bit fluffy. I never measure my oils, so idk how much I use.

This is one of the best ways. It tempers the butter and you shouldn't get the little hard crystals that happen when you melt shea to a liquid.

70% butter to 30% oil will give you a hard butter mix, 60% hard butters to 40% oil, whipped will give you a softer mix. .5% of the total weight can be a fragrance or essential oil mix.

I also make mine at room temp with the hand mixer. I don't measure but just add a little at a time until I get the consistency I am going for. Which is normally soft & fluffy butter. I am a minimalist and only use Shea butter, olive & coconut oils.

I also think that room temp with hand mixer is a great idea. I only use 2 oils in my Shea mix. Olive and castor. use 1oz of both, and 4oz of Shea butter.

Can one mix Shea butter using a whisk? Or a blender? I don't have a hand mixer.
