Soo I love flax seed gel! I'm a bit short on oil supply so I just threw grapeseed oil and honey in my mix.
I tried using a wire strainer but still had alot of wasted gel so ill invest in some wave caps and tong thingies naptural used. I tried a braid out for the first time it's not the best but I guess my first twist out was eh too ![]()

Just a tip for you ladies.... If you have any bottles of anti-bacterial hand liquid soap with the pump on it in the bathroom. Once it's empty you just need to thoroughly rinse hot water thru it, but on your next batch of flax seed gel. You can pour it into the bottle, and that way you now can use it with a hand held pump dispenser, instead of dipping your hands into the gel. Hope this helps

for the ladies that are adding things to their fsg, do you add it directly to the water while it boils, or to the gel once its strained?

I add my oils and honey into the container then strain the gel into it while it's hot.

One time I boiled my flaxseed with a little burdock root. I normally double the water amount I would normally use for regular flaxseed gel, and let it boil down though. But if you let it boil too low and its looking too thick while its still on the stove, add more water and heat it just a tiny little bit longer. Then, strain.

Thanks curlytea. Steeping the seeds with an herb is a good idea. Now if only I could get my hands on some marshmallow root.....
UPDATE: Ok, so I made my 1st batch of fsg without anything else in it. I tried a WnG, and my hair took 7 hours to completely dry(not cool). The gel dried white in some spots and was kinda crunchy. Most of the crunch was gone by the end of the day, but there were still some white spots. I think my issues were a combo of using heavy-handedness and too many when I made it. I still dont like my WnGs (the shape isnt quite right), so I think I'll try fsg again on my twist out this weekend. This is a great thread, thanks for all the advice
