Default Fragrance Oils

I just made a shea butter mix with homemade rosemary oil. I want to add some buttercream fragrance oil that I got. I know that it's safe for the body but I'm unsure of how much to use. I don't want my hair to fall out. Can anybody give me some info on fragrance oils and natural hair?

What is the weight of the butter? The approved amount is usually 1% to .5 percent of the total weight of the final product. That amount is so small you need a special gram scale. Start with 3 drops, mix it well. Then let it sit for overnight so the scent can mature. Check it in the morning and add a few drops more if you need it.

I just made a shea butter mix on Sunday and used a Buttercream fragrance oil!!! I got mine from Coastal Scents, its the 2oz size. I simply added a capful of the oil using the cap from the bottle the oil came in.

My shea butter mix in total yielded 4oz of product which I divided in 2 (i made 2 different scent from this batch) so I added one capful to 2oz of shea butter mix.

I did the recommended patch test prior to make sure I didn't have a reaction.

Medeaj I used 10 oz of Shea butter and about 5 droppers of buttercream oil. But the dropper was only about half full. Maybe a tad over half.

That's probably enough. You don't want it too strong so close to your face and eyes. The buttercream should blend well with the nutty scent of the shea. Your hair will smell like dessert. lol
