I know some ppl state henna loosens their curl pattern, but it seems that my hair gets curlier. Hennaed tonight and as usual loved the end results.

Don't be! I was nervous myself but it turned out to be great. I did my first treatment in Decemeber and I have my second in my hair this very moment. I use the nupur henna which has 9 different ayurvedic herbs. Cheaper than buying them all and mixing it myself.

Default LUV Henna HATE the WILTING EFFECT! Uugh...

I luv, luv henna. It playfully colors and quietly strengthens my hair like no other. It gives interest to my mundane, mid-length W&G and effortlessly hides my steely grays. 'Til recently, I hennaed to cover my gray, but when I read Nikki's henna history, I decided to up my game and henna more frequently to boost the reds. for years, I've done the 2-step henna+indigo method, which yields a beautiful natural black that lets everyone (including me) completely forget my age! LOL Ironically, I now have gorgeous auburn highlights that I would have gladly paid dearly to have, because the trouble with coloring with henna is that you can never really color your hair or get highlight. But to my delight, the indigo has gently faded, allowing my gray hairs to show the warm henna. Anyway, I degress. My 4a coils are wilting! What can I do?! Will
Cassia help. I spent a lifetime cursing my $%# 'nappy' hair and just when I wake up and finally fall deeply in love with my happy, nappy, coils- henna robs me!!! Please advise.

I'm reading various posts and it looks like I shouldn't have left the henna in overnight. I always add alma, but maybe I should rinse after a few hours.

i don't know what to mix it with or if i need to mix it all. i could deal with a little color change, but nothing drastic, but i don't think i will get much change because my hair is so dark

Many use simply henna and water. It's advised you start with just that before you begin experimenting with other ingredients but I went ahead and got creative. For my first application I used iknowlee's (of Youtube) mixture"
- 1C Henna (I actually only used 1/2C)
- 3tbsp Olive oil
- 2tsp Lemon juice (an estimate as she didn't actually measure it)
- 1/3C conditioner (another estimate)
- water (enough to make it smooth)

For the mix I used today, it was rather random. I used:
- 8tbsp Nupur henna
- 2tbsp honey
- 2tbsp almond milk
- 1tsp olive oil
- 1tsp vitamin e oil
- 1tsp jojoba oil
- water

I leave it in the fridge overnight.

Four (4) hours will give you all of the benefits of henna. Sometimes I leave it in 5-6 hours because I am working in my office and get busy.

As wonderful as henna is in my opinion, it will loosen your curls over time. Use Amla powder as your acid and warm water. Amla has a ph of 3, so you will have good dye release. I think 2-3 TB. per 100 grams should be good. Let us know how it turns out.

I washed gently with bentonite clay then did a yogurt DT. The hair on the nape and sides reverted nicely, but the crown and front are still relaxed and look very similar to heat damaged hair.

This morning, I shingled in condition while in the shower and the crown looks much better, but still not 'nappy' and tightly coiled like before. Today I'm wearing a W&G, but I had to finger coil, clip and diffuse the front and most of the top. Tonight I will braid w/ a curling cream for a little more texture tomorrow.

One sidebar to my curl theft is that I am left with the softest, most manageable hair ever, and the color is amazing. I pray my kinky-coils return. The curl gods have a decidedly warp sense of humor.
