Default Henna questions for a Newbie.

Hello!
So I BC'ed about a month ago and I'm new to being natural. Henna questions for a Newbie.-imageuploadedbycurlynikki1349454142.524638.jpgI have been reading about henna. I wanted to know, do you think it's a bit early for me to start trying? I have very very dense and thick 4a /4b hair and I don't want to loose all the curl. But I have major shrinkage as well. What products would you think are best for me and my type? And conditioners to couple it with. Henna questions for a Newbie.-imageuploadedbycurlynikki1349454365.479903.jpg

No, it's not too early for you to start using henna. I say start having fun with it now! You can add a little amla to your henna mix to help retain curls. (Amla will also lessen color deposit.)

Or instead of amla just add a lot of conditioner to your henna mix to thin it out; this will also help with rinsing. My first few times I mixed 100 grams henna, 2 cups warm water, and 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice. My mix wasn't really runny, but I probably could've cut back to 1.5 cups warm water. After dye release I added 1/4 or so of conditioner, and that really thinned it out, but my hair is super thick so the henna didn't run and I didn't make a big mess in the bathroom. (lining the floor with plastic bags and a few towels on top helped.)

I left it on for about 4 hours and my grays came out a bright coppery-color, which darkened a bit. Loved it from the very beginning!

You might not need as much henna, water or conditioner for your mix. I had some henna leftover, froze it and added it to the next batch.

HTH!

I hennaed two weeks after my big chop. However, I did more of a gloss and this is what I got. The color didn't last, but my hair was softer and FULL.
