I have 4a/4b hair. Now I heard that henna loosens up your curl pattern, so will that like make me a 3c o.O and I have naturally JET BLACK hair that I live ^_^ I don't want to dye my hair, so should I just forget about using henna?? And what are the benefits.. Also would I have to do "touch ups" like how I would for a relaxer?? Will this change my hair texture at all? And does the benefits of henna fade away? I also heard that henna made some peoples hair "big" I have unmanageable THICK hair -_- I dont need it any bigger

Ok. Henna is natural protein plant that strengthens and thickens the hair. I have been using henna since last summer. It depends what type of henna you use. There are henna's that are not that refines are sift.
It's best if you get henna from a local indian grocery, or on online. When I first used henna I admit I saw a few stringy ends but I believe the henna I used was not the right type and I didn't buy it from a indian store . I got it at my local bss. Henna is not a touch up, more something make the hair shaft stronger. So you can use henna whenever you feel that you need to strengthen your strands. You can check out hennapage.com or mehandi.com. for more info. Sent from my HTC Status using CurlyNikki App

I'll answer some of the questions
I have 4a/4b hair. Now I heard that henna loosens up your curl pattern, so will that like make me a 3c o.O Nope, henna loosens curl patterns somewhat but not that much. I'm still 4b and I've been henna-ing for years I have naturally JET BLACK hair that I live ^_^ I don't want to dye my hair, so should I just forget about using henna?? You will have a reddish tint on top of the black and any greys will be reddish/orangish, which can be more brown or red depending on what you add to the henna. If you're worried about color you could use cassia which is neutral or colorless "henna" And what are the benefits. http://www.curlynikki.com/2008/10/im-henna-head.html Also would I have to do "touch ups" like how I would for a relaxer?? No, just henna your whole head again whenever you feel like it Will this change my hair texture at all? Didn't change mine but some people notice a slight loosening |

Henna is a hit and miss. The first time I did it I was a wimp and did only a Henna Gloss which I hated. I decided to try it again full blast with amla as the acid. I wanted a less subtle red. I loved how it defined my curls and it was gorgeous but upon closer inspection I noticed my curl pattern loosened which explained the defined curls. Yes, the SECOND time. I wasn't havin' that. Not going to use again. I don't know what texture I have towards the middle where I noticed alot more loosening could be 3b maybe 4a but it took a hit. The roots of my hair make an "S" but after henna the root was still an S but from the middle to the ends it was just loose "Cs" smh. My puffs also weren't as puffy if that makes sense. The amla I added was supposed to help retain the curl. I also didn't get one hint of color at all from it and followed mixing instructions to a "T" Didn't work for me
It did seem to strengthen though, my hair strands literally looked fatter.
