I've thrown in all kinds of stuff in my henna mix.

My last mix had jojoba oil, argan oil, olive oil, avj, and coconut milk.

You can put whatever you want into your henna mix. But I recommend you keep it simple the first few times. There is a lot of info and different mixes on the Henna for Hair forums. MelMelBee has a link to "Everything you need to know about henna!"; and there's some good info in that article.

I use:
100 grams Red Raj
1.5 to 2 cups warm water
3 TBSP or more lemon juice (eyeball it)
1/4 cup or so of Suave coconut conditioner (after dye release)

I have a simple mix too= amla abd double strength hibiscus tea, and that's it.

Many posts on this. Peruse the henna thread or use the internsl search engine.
